What kind of groups can you guys/gals achieve with your M&P9s? from 10, 15 and 25 yards? What ammo do they seem to perfer (grain count)
Thanks, UTAF
Thanks, UTAF
I have shot 2 at the club just to try , both had no problems grouping under 5' free hand at 20 yards with 125 grain jacketed round nose
I have had very limited hands on time with the M&P9 but it did not suite me at all. With a comfortable hold it was a pretty big group (i.e. bigger than hand size at 15yrds). Regular shaped even groups, but spread out.
With a "death grip" (i.e. clutched so tight I would be hard pressed to hold it like that for more than 5 rounds without getting tremors) the groups tightened up much better. It is certainly an accurate pistol since you can blow out the x-ring...but I can't shoot comfortably with it for extended periods of time.
Switching to a different pistol and holding normally was pure joy every time after shooting that.
It shot well with most wolf stuff and handloads...old 9mm mil-surp (+P subgun stuff) did not work well at all. It was fun and went bang, but the groups were lousy.
I'm getting a pretty consistent 3" group at around 12-15 meters using 124 gr. BDX reloads. I have found that a firm 60 front/40 rear grip and REALLY concentrating on the trigger reset has vastly improved my shooting with my M&P9.
I can also hit a 2x3 steel target 10 times out of 10 at 50 meters.

Sorry but how are you able to hit a 2"x3" metal target at 50 meters but only able to get a 3" grouping at 15 meters? IMHO if you can hit a little metal target at 50 meters consistantly with a rifle using open sights you're doing pretty good.
That's a big ass metal target. Haven't seen one that size at any club.2'x3' I think he means
