I recently acquired a beautiful 617 22 and I finally got out to the range with it. This is my first double action revolver and I'm quite impressed. It's not quite as accurate as my Brownig Challenger but it's still pretty accurate. Interestingly I found I could get better groups shooting double action rather than sigle. Even though the single action trigger pull is probably less than 3lbs with no creep at all. The double action is very smooth as well. I found I could get about 1in groups at 15 yds double action. At 25 they "opened" up some, I'd say around 5in, probably more due to my eyes than the gun. I ordered a Weaver rail for it as I have a handgun scope and a red dot I'm going to try.

So overall I highly recommend this gun to anyone looking for a good 22 revolver. Are there more accurate guns out there, sure but this one is quite accurate and really fun to shoot. TC

Hey Nick could you tell me your cleaning regimen? When I got it it looked like brand new but I put about 200 rounds through it yesterday and I'm having a heck of a time getting the front of the cyclinder clean. TC

Hi Randy!

I use Break Free CLP to break down the contamination and remove it with a cloth. The trick is to leave the Break Free CLP on the metal for 5 or 10 minutes to allow it to do its work. Then grab a clean cloth and remove the grime. Works like a charm!

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a try. I was going to mention I tried a couple of rounds of "IPSC" shooting at 10yds and wow! I'm not Jerry Miciluc (spelling?) fast but it was pretty quick..and all in the A zone :D TC

Could you define "IPSC Shooting".

Basically pointing the gun and shooting really fast :ar15:. Actually IPSC is a really fun shooting discipline in which you draw from a holster and engage multiple targets and yes shoot really fast. What I did at the range though was just shoot 5 shots as fast as I could at a 10yd target. TC

Yes IPSC is fun, I am a R.O.

I don't believe there really is an IPSC style though. I have shot stages really slow fire, 8" plates at 25 yards and I have shot as fast as I as I could pull the trigger. If anything I would say IPSC style is as accurate as you can shoot quickly.
