Canadian championship results

Ian has been doing phenomenal lately and hope he continues it through the rest of the matches.

Also, he had something like 92V's with that 624/625
 
We'll need some luck with the weather -- today's matches were entirely cancelled due to heavy thunderstorms plus lightning. Hoping for a better day tomorrow!
 
just two more stages to complete the grand agg tomorrow am. Gord is hanging tough in FO. Maritimers Ian Hogg and Dan Chisholm are both holding their own in TR. Tyler Sangster from NS has also had his moments of brilliance.
 
Matches completed, phew what a week. Let's just say Gord needed a wheelbarrow for all the silverware from trips up to the awards podium.... way to go, Gord!!
 
Indeed! Congrats to Gord Ogg and his stellar performance and to Dale Rathwell and the rest of the Canadian team, who placed and impressive second in the America match.

Honourable mention goes to Mark I, Mark F, Brian M. and others shooting in these matches for the first time.

Congrats to ALL

Thank you for the kind words.I am home now and will be recovering over the next while.
I wanted to post my congratulations to ALL those who shot,and ALL those who worked to make 2010 CFRC another successful week plus of matches.
It would be too long of a post to recall all the highlights of the week and mention ALL the individuals who should be honored for their efforts and results.
The week was very challenging in a number of ways ,but I think well worth it.There were many new faces and great talented shooters from South Africa and the USA as well as Canada.
It was a hard fought and close race pretty much for every individual match as well as the aggregates, in most cases being decided by 1 point or V count.
In the end I was lucky enough to hang onto the Canadian Open F Class Championship and the Canadian F (Bisley) Championship for another year.
In addition to the Individual Matches of the Grand Agg, I was fortunate enough to participate in the America's Match . Under Dale Rathwell's Captaincy ,in a very short period of time,we assembled a team of F open and FTR shooters and assistants to compete against some of the best from the US ( a well polished talented great group of Americans) .
I would also like to say that The South African Gang were extremely talented and a pleasure to meet,shoot with and talk to. Considering the challenges they faced to get here and compete,my hat's off to them.
IMHO, keep an eye on Dawie's son, David as I believe he will be a WORLD Champion in time.
As Canadian Shooters I think you can be proud that Team Canada represented and I feel honored to have had a place with them.
To ALL Canadian Shooters who for one reason or another could not be in attendance this year,I strongly recommend to start planning NOW to try and get there for 2011.It really is worth the time,money and effort.

Gord, you shot like a demon, it was an honor to share the range with you, sincere congrats on your outstanding accomplishments

My deepest appreciation to Dale Rathwell for his tireless work in preparing for and coaching us in the America Match, it was the highlight of my shooting season.

Special thanks to Gord Ogg and Don Hall, truly two "Wind Jedi's" . Thanks also to the unselfish contributions of the assistant coaches, plotters and scorer's
 
Well Done Gord!!! I really missed not getting there this year. Working for a living still has to be done wether I like it or not. Wifey refuses to win the big one.
Again, congratulations and a slap on the back for all of our Canadian shooters. You all really did us proud.

Actually for what it's worth Al and Jim did not donate the trophy for the America Match, rather, they are the two shooters pictured on the trophy (a handmade bronze sculpture).

The America Match (not America's Cup etc) is a match owned by the NRA of the USA, which is fired every second year, alternating between Canada and USA. So there is inherently a "USA+Canada" flavour to it. The artist, George Chase of NB, chose Al and Jim as representatives of the USA and Canadian aspects of the match. It portrays a hypothetical team shooting situation in which Al is holding a rifle and getting ready to shoot, while Jim sits on a stool looking through a scope getting ready to coach Al. It really is a wonderful piece of art work.

The trophy is really worth having a close look at. It is now back in Virginia at the NRA, it will next be seen in (ooops, edit...)2012 at Raton New Mexico, where hopefully we will have a Canadian team trying to win the America Match and another Canadian team trying to win the America Match Alongside F-Class.
