Yowsers... the Valmet hunter can be had for $2500 and up... save you $1500
Find one at that price, and I say buy two...

not for a hunter. Hunters sell for <2K. M78s,M78/83s go for 3-6 depending on which one it is.
I have owned a couple over the years, and the m305 still beats them.

valmet M-78 Hunter
About 6 or 7 years ago I walked into Gannons sports in Oshawa and found and bought a mint Valmet hunter in 30-06 with 2 mags for $1500.I later sold it when the novelty wore off and the cost and availabity of ammo started to be of concern but it was dam accurate with open sights at 100 yards.Probably should of been a keeper but whatever.As for spare magazines had Williams arms in Port perry bring a spare in through Stoger Canada the original Valmet importer just had to pay $150 and wait a month or two.Thanks--Dieseldog!

You can find them on auction sites in the U.S.. Then it depends on whether the U.S. State Department is issuing export permits for Valmets. One year they're being approved, another year they're not. I don't know what the status is today. If you find one, Questar has an import service through a U.S. FFL dealer.
