I saw that same shotgun, too at the Fredericton show. That was at the same table as the CX4 Storm in .40 for $850, IIRC. Man, I wish I had the money for either one of them, but I'd just bought a 1911A1 the week before.

a butler creek side folder off a 870 will keep it non-restricted... dont remove the sling plate tho
Out performs 870 for patterning due to vang choke design and wins all shotgun matches because of speed reloads with mags as opposed to tube fed.
Buy if u can -- whatever the price -
Trouble is - u need lots of mags -- cost more than the gun now for enough

What's the over all length with the factory folder folded? Looks short but than again it makes it higher to put in a case and if it puts the gun in restricted classification it isn’t worth it.
I had shortened my fixed stock by a 1 1/2 inches and put a rubber pad. It fits me much better now. I'd like to install a laser in the tube since it isn't used. I wonder how I can do that.

Valtro sights
I suspect the original import of 14 " Valtros were Police guns.
They had adjustable ghost ring rears and fiber optic fronts.
The next batch were bastardized to be similar to the police guns of which there were no more to be had.
The original Police guns were designed to shoot high -
Put the bead on the crotch of the bad guy so you could still see the arms and hands, fire when the appendages become a threat, hit center mass.
Also for the spreader choke for crowd control, which sprays a pattern horizontally-
Aim at the feet so you could see the bad guys, fire when necessary and hit the legs knocking the rioters to the ground.
I have seen the bastardized Valtros made from bead sight barrels with non Valtro installed rear and front sights - the fronts were not measured for proper height prior to mounting and those guns shoot very very low - unusable sights.
I suspect they were bastardized by distributors not by the factory.
Also - for you Valtro owners with adjustable ghost ring rears - (police and bastardized)
The aluminum receivers where the rear sight mounts are very thin - hard use will strip the threads
It is advisable to drill and tap a couple of extra holes for extra mounting strength -
I own one and it's awkward to hold. I originally thought that the length of pull was the issue, but a fellow owner pointed out that the LOP is identical to a stock 870. Checked it out myself and he was right.
The culprit, it turns out, is the forend. It's a least 2-3" further forward than an 870. Therefore, while trying to hold the shotty up, your supporting hand is stretched out more than is comfy. And this was noticed by people like myself (5'6" - 5'9") as well as taller gentlemen. Very few stated that it wasn't an issue.
As well, my version has no orange bead up front, unlike canadiangunuser. Has the same identical front sight, but no bead. And my rear sight isn't anywhere near as sophisticated as his. Due to there being no orange bead, the shotgun shoots high from point of aim. I thought it was just mine, but supposedly there was a design change and they dropped the bead without compensating with the rear sight. Sad for an $800 gun.
If I wanted to buy one, I'd snap up canadiangunuser's shotty. He's got the improved sights and $200 worth of mags for the price of a newer and lesser equipped version

Completely agree with Nisser - the best pump action tactical shotgun. I am a small guy with short hands, and I don't have a problem speed-pumping it on a regular shotgun match (up to 40 rounds, maybe - haven't tried it for more than that). I have just a front sight on mine (no rear sight) and I find that it patterns the same (if not more accurate) than my semi Benelli M2 with the ghost ring and FO front - I think it was designed like this for a reason (however, I have to note that I used to have another PM5 with Mossberg ghost ring and FO front and couldn't hit a building with it. Had to get rid of it. Something went wrong with this particular model). Just a front sight also makes for a much faster target acquisition. I am not superfast, but I started winning shotgun matches with my Valtro just on the speed of mag changes and the accuracy.
I have only one complaint - under the timer during the match, when you try to bring your shotty into firing position from the "stand ready" as fast as you can, the butt usually ends up against my forearm, not the shoulder. This little beauty kicks like a mule, so I had a huge bruise on my forearm for about a month.
Oh yeah, and you have to tinker with the locking plate on the magazines to make the mags locking and unlocking much smoother. Mags are a huge problem to get, but I was able to scrounge 5 of them here and there, so, I keep them in a safety deposit box.....

I'll accept that this thread is about an expensive, fairly exclusive imported shotgun but your argument over slagging the Grizzly has no merit and you prove it by your lack of substance.
As In:
- anyone who has done a mag change in an AR and an AK (or even a M14) would imediately realize it's easier to change the mag in the AR (especially when the timers running). The Valtro is very much like an AK, the Grizzly is very much like an AR.
So your wrong
-The fact that it is from China is ??? Your alarm clock (& most electronics) are from China as is a tremendous amount of steel. You do know they are the worlds largest producer of steel don't you?
So your not really wrong, you just don't have a global view of things...
-Now it is a 870 REDESIGNED into an evolution of the original design, I'll give you that, however, Remingtons quality control has been a bit lacking of late so whether it would be something to fawn over really should be tempered.
You appear to discount Chinese products on the basis of where it was made and are clearly pro USA, good for you, I prefer a democracy as well however this is not about politics, it's about a shotgun...
-As for 100 % tactical, do some searching, you'll find as many people complaining about your precious Valtro jamming up as the Grizzly. Truth is most of these guns require tweeking to get them up to snuff (thats my opinion).
So 100 % tactical means more expensive ? Quick, hurry, better get that M4 cause someone is going to be more tacticool than you...
-Yes you can compare the two guns, they are very similar. But IMO with a few mods the Grizzly will work perfectly with 2 2/4" or 3" loads, be more inexpensive and have an easier mag swap. Plus most 870 assessories will bolt on. Plus when I beat it up in the bush or at the range it would be of little concern as it is easily and affordably replaced.
I have nothing against a Valtro but to post a comment as you had I'm sure you expected this style of response.

I shot one once and I thought the same thing. Not a fan of mag fed shotguns in general. Cool, yes. Practical, no.
