I'm getting into reloading and i am having problems finding all the components i need, especially in one place to keep shipping costs down. How are they to deal with for reloading supplies? Does anyone know if the stuff they have listed online are in stock or is stuff listed then ordered? Also if anyone knows where else i can get this stuff besides WSS it would be greatly appreciated.

specifically looking for:

Barnes 160gr .284 TSX
Hornady 162gr .284 A-max
Alliant Reloder 22 Powder
IMR 4831 Powder
7mm rem mag brass
Lee PaceSetter 7mm rem mag dies
Lee Breech lock challenger press

You shouldnt even put "reloading" and WSS in the same sentence. They're a joke. Shop elsewhere.
Id also suggest going with the Lee Classic cast vs. the Challenger press, the challenger is junk.

Draw a 6 inch circle on your floor. Now take a handfull off say....300 poker chips. Throw them in the air. The percentage of them that land in that circle will represent the percentage of stock WSS has when YOU need it.

X2!! Their supplies have been cr@p each and every time I've gone in there over the past few years. Any IMR 4831? Nope, sorry. Any RL22? Nope, sorry. Any 140 gr. TTSX's? Oh, I think so, let em go look....Nope, sorry. Hmmm... how about any brass other than Rem for the .280 Rem? ummm...nope, sorry. 17HMR ammo????? Uh-Uh. Oh great, you have a big supply of targets - I'll take 3 packs of these and 2 of those, now if only I had something to throw at them.

Oh well, another 30 minutes and I'm at Phil's Place :D.

Fustrating to say at the best of times. Even if you call them or online chat to check stock 9 times out of ten they cant find it or dont have it. Last week I was waiting in the horedous line at the calgary gun counter and heard their "Catologue" people talking.

"computer says 19 in stock"
"Well I can't find them"
"But the computer says 19"
"Well they aint there"
"go look for them again it says there there"
"No you do it"
"Ah the computer is so f'd I'm not going to bother"
"What should I do about it?"
"Back order it"

Then I get to the counter they dont have a single thing I want. So I pick up a mtn case and head to the tills. 4 people standing around and not one till open not one person asks if they can help. So I set the items on the counter and continue out the door. and go to TSE.

WSS has a problem with stock control. Their website has items that have descriptions and pictures coppied of the RCBS site and a title that says it is a lee product. You can even see RCBS in the picture of the "LEE" Case trim pro. I am sure this is a major cause of their stock issues as not one of their drones is going to say I couldn't find the lee trim pro but there is a RCBS one there though, Lets figure this out. I found 8 items like this and sent them an email pointing it out. They changed the sight but it wont fix the over all problem in the store.

After this I went to TSE because I heard they have a new reloading section in the store. Wow great selection of bullets on a shelf where you can see everything your self pick it up and walk to the till. Also 2 people asked me if they could help me! I don't know if they so mail order but I hope they do!

I do buy most of my stuff from the guys here in town since their prices are, for the most part, competative with WSS on reloading componets but I was in Calgary for an appointment and had some time to kill.

I have bought from Mystic Precision and had great results as well.

thanks, you might have saved me a few headaches with dealing with them.

it was a toss up between the two, care to elaborate on why the classic cast is better? i cant really see much difference.

Haha I hate that they will only sell 1000 primers per person.

I don't know if they are still sponsors but you could try reloaders.ca.

i checked out reloaders.ca but they have nothing i want in stock except the press, they don't even have .284 bullets listed, and they don't take any kind of credit card which means i have to use a money order which would slow it down even further.

thats why i had to ask, i have never bought anything from them and found it wierd it didnt show stock levels, so i was hesitant to order anything. ill give Jerry a quick email on what he can get in.

thanks all for the info and help.

Even if Reloaders.ca doesnt have stock on something, you can go ahead and order it, they will get it in and ship it, or tell you how long you might have to wait, give them a chance... I havent bought anything from them yet, but they are likely to be getting a fair bit of my component business in the future... just give them a shot.

I must be the odd lucky guy because last time I went to WSS (in Saskatoon) they had everything I needed. It sucks only being able to buy 2 pounds of powder and 1000 primers at a time, but in Sask there is not a lot of places that seem to have stock. They had the 20gr V-Max and the 55gr V-Max that I wanted too.

Yeah, I haven't had a problem getting anything I need from the Saskatoon store lately, seems like they got alot more stock than they had a couple months ago.

Well, the Kamloops WSS has usually got most, if not all of everything I've wanted, when I go there.
Of course, I prefer to shop at Del Selin's but sometimes I'm in Kamloops, not Vernon and I remember I need (want) something.

I have boycotted WSS in Saskatoon for many years now. I have heard through friends that shop there that they have a new manager, younger fellow finally. Apparently they will deal a bit on prices even , and like stated earlier they are carrying more stock.AND hopefully they lost the "we are the only game in town..................." attitude which i heard come out of one of the gun counters attendants. I do not get my archery supplies there at all, I support North Pro Sports, small shop fast service, they may not stock everything, but you do get service and they will get what you need and they do mail order.

The old Lee Challenger presses were fine in my opinion. Although not as robust as a Classic Cast, it's not nearly as expensive either. I've reloaded thousands of rounds with my old Challenger and even formed brass into different calibers, albeit quite gently. As a new reloader, most start off with a kit. It's the cheapest way to get into reloading. You can always upgrade as time goes on.

Not rying to hijack the thread but when did WSS start only selling 1000 primers at a time? Last year or maybe 2 years ago now I bought 4700 Federal 215 large rifle magnum primers and then awhile later went in and bought 5000 Federal 210 large rifle primers. I"m sure this is thier practice just like the 2lbs of powder just wondering when it came into effect.
