Possible to import a Tavor to the US?

I'd really like to know what parts can be imported or what it would take to make it sporting per 922r. I know people have imported the SL8 w/double stack mags into the US. So couldn't the Tavor be modified easily to be imported? I know once a rifle is registered as a SBR in the US you can do whatever you want except a happy switch.

To the gentleman who referred me as being suspicious. You my freind come off as a person who works for the guberment. If this is the case, then you are the worst scum for civil liberties. Even prisoners have no respect for snitches or rats so to call it.
Yes I am a Tavor fanatic and know what I like.

I don't know if its possible but you might be able to get one with a chopped receiver insert and then have someone re-weld it for you IDK. Either way I know IWI is working to get tavors into the US so patience will likely pay off for you.

I'm just curious who is gonna try it. Was Barrett, then KBI Charles Daly, and now it's uncertain with the current US economy. I think the receiver insert should be one part to easy manufacture, the barrel and trigger parts too. I may just settle for waiting and stick with my current bullpup the STG-556. It's sad that our countries are allies and we cant share similar stuff between even neighbors.
Now if the Tavor had the flash suppressor and barrel threads removed, the magwell filled in and god knows what else. Wonder if that would enable it to be imported.

I say keep holding tight...Once they open a US market for this carbine, I'm certain they'll have difficulty keeping up with demand... and the accessory catalog is gonna go through the roof!

I'm starting to plan a trip to Upstate NY or Pennsylvania to do some wild boar hunting with a couple friends from work... Considering getting a temp permit to bring that rifle in for the hunt (UK if I'm allowed, but will endeavor to find out)... Your more than welcome to meet us and mess around with my Tavor's if it'll help satiate the urge till you get your own... Long drive from Tennessee though :)

Sounds good

keep me posted on that and I'll see what I can do. I still want to visit Canada. Anyone care to put a fellow gunnut up for a couple if days?

Hmm imagine that, an American wanting something us Canadians can get, usually it's the other way around... lol ...AK's anyone?
lol... I dunno.. The Tavor kind of talks to me... It's like, "hey... heY... HEY... You know you want me" and im like, "Hell yeah!!". :p

Hehe, AK's and crap like that I can get all day.... Tavor's... No one has them :p

IIRC many of the parts are already made in the US... heaven knows which ones though.
Any idea if they are stamped? While its not necessarily a 922r requirement that they be stamped... But if ever asked to prove it was made in the US it's considered acceptable to accept a stamping.

Here's a hint: maybe it's just because he wants a f**king tavor, and is exploring any ways of getting one. Remember their horses**t laws (922r) are as confusing as our horses**t laws.
True that....

You know, I think that one of the ways they import a lot of AK's into the US is with them (the receivers) cut up... From there if the receiver can be made either by a licenses firearms manufacture or by someone at home your probably set. OR if your at home you could reweld the receiver (seen it done for AK's) but thats difficult.

1) Yeah, you would have to do it at home yourself or get a licensed firearms manufacture to do it and then register it for you then sell/transfer it to you.

2) I hope so... The more I hang around here the more I see them and the more I want one.

Granted, someone will have to design a bullet button for it to be California Legal... Which sucks because some designs are very had to make a bullet button for, which means it could be months before the first one is sold in California. *Crosses Fingers*
