Up until today I had intended to sell my Norc/USGI hybrid M14s as I am shooting more black rifles and precision bolt guns and really ought to free up cash for some new toys but a couple of recent threads (and a couple of low-balling responses to my EE Ad LOL !) made me decide to go old school.
So:
(1) off came the full length rail and the optics
(2) out came a dirty and unsightly USGI fiberglass forend
(3) on went Krylon flat brown paint
(4) USGI stock got a nice dose of oil
(5) USGI bayonet got attached
(5) Dummy selector switch was ordered
I have (temporarily) put on a Springfield Armory mount (which I have had luck with in the past but I know it isn't that good) and an Elite 3200 10x but I may just end up with the irons to complete the look. Shooting as it is set up, I will put on a Blackhawk cheekpiece so as I can get a decent cheek weld but if I stay with a scope I guess I will have to get an ARMS or Sadlak to lower the scope over the bore better and ensure a better zero hold.
OK, some before and after shots:
Before
After
Cheers
Bob.
