Up until today I had intended to sell my Norc/USGI hybrid M14s as I am shooting more black rifles and precision bolt guns and really ought to free up cash for some new toys but a couple of recent threads (and a couple of low-balling responses to my EE Ad LOL !) made me decide to go old school.

So:
(1) off came the full length rail and the optics
(2) out came a dirty and unsightly USGI fiberglass forend
(3) on went Krylon flat brown paint
(4) USGI stock got a nice dose of oil
(5) USGI bayonet got attached
(5) Dummy selector switch was ordered

I have (temporarily) put on a Springfield Armory mount (which I have had luck with in the past but I know it isn't that good) and an Elite 3200 10x but I may just end up with the irons to complete the look. Shooting as it is set up, I will put on a Blackhawk cheekpiece so as I can get a decent cheek weld but if I stay with a scope I guess I will have to get an ARMS or Sadlak to lower the scope over the bore better and ensure a better zero hold.

OK, some before and after shots:

Cheers

I like everything but the scope.
I would look for the Springfield 1 that was made just for the M14 other than that it's straight aces in my book's.

You mean the "ART" scope from the Vietnam era..............great for the Old school look......................not great for optical performance........technology and quality has long passed the ART series of optics.............but if you want a true M21 clone, then the ART scope is the way to go.............;)

springfield also made one i think..... a client sent it along for an LRB build. .308 bullet drop compensator and a level built inside. designed for the loaded series i believe or was told..... but who knows

Got mine in the US - can't remember the store but I do recall the place wouldn't ship an M16 bayonet at it is "a ban on current military stuff" but happily shipped an M14 bayonet - go figure !
