Same here. Give me an empty range any day of the week. If people are there, please MYOFB. IF you must talk, at least be positive/curious/polite not one of these downers who are just there to critisize others and their firearms and spew their unsolicited opinions on what's illegal about someone else's setup. I agree about confronting someone if they're seen acting in an obviously dangerous fashion, but other than that, I generally mind my own business.

srsly though, Homestead has has it's share of troubles over the years (and lately).
Lots of yokels come out, shoot up the signs, leave a mess, and just generally make asses of themselves while other people have to clean up the mess they leave.
Can't say I blame whoever it was (chances are I know them) for accosting you.
The Homestead range was meant as a place for hunters to zero their rifles prior to hunting season. The authorities keep it alive because they know otherwise a lot more guys would go out onto crown land to zero their rifles and some of them would leave a similar mess out in K-country.
Downside to that is the Homestead range gets the riff-raff along with the decent folks.

Well handled and good diplomacy. We need to draw support for what ever firearm we choose to shoot. If all us black gun owners are nice guys (offer a few shots, show the 5rd limit, de-myth misinformation about black rifles, and make a positive impression, etc) it will bode well for some support of our end of this hobby.
I have seen confrontation about hunting rifles vs the 'other rifles' and that makes no positive progress.

No rifle looks so cool it should be banned, no gun should ever be prohibited because of appearance.
You should have buttstroked/smashed/slashed and stabbed his ass with the bayonet. Im obviously kidding, you handled the situation by being polite and giving straight forward answers and sent him on his way. I wouldnt want some d-bag knowfvckall idiot like that handling my rifle so its a good thing you did not ask him to try it.
well handled, I think a positive attitude is the best way to deal with people. Remember, the only difference between restricted and non-restricted 858s is about 3.5", so he may have thought they were just a restricted rifle. Since you were polite and answered his questions, he may be considering buying one now. He may even rethink his position on restricted rifles and the people who own them. Good job!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think homestead is a cfo approved range. Hence the restricted issue.
Take a look at the prohibited list and everything on it , Canadas great image went out the window a long time ago , along with our balls..
I think you should have had fun with the situation , claim yeah man its a 30 round magazine , it allows me to kill more babies , kiitties and burn down churches without even leaving the range .. lmao , i kid i kid ...
