Yep, from the president of a club, no less. At least he wasn't an a**hole about it. I think OP handled it pretty well. There is now one more person that has realized that not all evil looking rifles are restricted.

I dont think you would be a #### by stating he should know better.Its people in his position should take it upon themselves to educate what is legal and what is not.

I could see this happening at a range in Ontario, but Alberta? WTF?

We have lots of fudds out here as well. Many of the hunters I know think handguns are worthless and wouldn't mind if they were banned, as long as the government leaves their deer rifle alone. I have one friend that is convinced there is no way the government would ever ban his Rem 700 or restrict hunting because it is too important. Yes, he is very naive, but there is no one that can convince him otherwise.

I regularly run across people at the range that think C-391 was to get rid of licensing and that registration is not important or required. The lack of knowledge is simply stunning.
