Older model Colts vs Norinco vs Bushmaster vs....

With new Norincos available at less than $700 (+taxes and shipping naturally), the option of buying a brand new black rifle looks pretty appealing.

BUT, there are a fair number of (allegedly) nearly new Colts out there on the EE, not to mention a selection of Bushmasters and just about everything else.

Is there a downside to an older Colt, obviously assuming it's been cared for properly? I'm enough of a traditionalist that I'd rather buy a product from an original maker rather than a clone (and yes, I understand how Colt got into the business of building them), particularly an unlicensed one.

The Norinco have nice features for the price but I would still pick a used Bushmaster for a few $ more. My only complain about the Norinco is the finish.

A Norinco is a better gun for less money that the comparative Bushmaster.

Colts are "always" good, but some are better than others.

Man, unless you buy Colt, or Armalite, you're buying a "knock-off".

If you are worried about your kids jobs, take a look at walmart displays....not much there made in canada or the states for that matter.....keep worrying, because i am

I agree- manufacturing's being outsourced to the lowest cost supplier. I tend to believe we should consider WHERE we're buying from, if we have a choice.

A lot of the intellectual work is going out of our country too nowadays. It used to just be manufacturing- now it's design too.


Anyway, don't want to take this thread too far off the original topic, which is older model Colts vs other manufacturers' offerings.

They are all "knock-offs", even most of the American made ones.

Buy North American or European if you have the cash! My Bushmaster rifle i have, is much better than most colts at the time, but i picked that rifle up in 2003, Colt seems to have raised there game, but i think you are just paying for the name.

Have to say they all work well, if you are looking for a rifle that you will be pushing to it's limits there are better options example KAC line is pretty impressive, but for the price and service i would actually go with our Canadian made rifles now, especially Alberta Tactical, and Dlask.

I can't tell if the Norinco M4 came from you. I'm just sharing my experience with the M4 Ive seen. What's the difference between your batch and the previous M4 that came in Canada first?

They're all knock offs these days.

What I can't figure is how anyone can compare ANYTHING Norinco to a Colt.
