Moving to the US, cant take SKS??!!

If you are planning to aquire/posess any firearms in the US, check carefully into legislation concerning non-citizens doing this. Things have changed big time over the past 9 yrs.

Yeah i've been in close contact with the ATF on this. They dont see a problem. It seems that i can even start buying guns after livint in Colorado for 3 months.

I was aware of the rules on "Chinese" but Russian as well? Does it only apply to the SKS or all Russian firearms?

Russian SKS and SVT-40, basically anything semi-auto military no matter the country of export.

You should be able to find Russian SKS carbines for a reasonable price down there. You'll be able to use an original 10 rounder to its full capacity-as its meant to be...

In fact, I would much rather have an SKS, VZ 58 or VZ 52 than a cheap, ratty AK 47...

One thing I should tell you is Get everything in writing When you talk to ATF. Record names of people you talked to. If you need to record the conversation. Trust me you will not be sorry. Things change to quick there and no one aware of the changes especially Canadian citizens. When you get to the border and American customs will tell you that you can not brings your firearms for this and that reason you be surprise. Also check State laws especially if you traveling throught.

Good luck.

PM me I might have some answers for you.

Until you look for a civilian m14. Then get out your wallet.

Which means what in the long run, compared to what you can have, what the ammo costs are,and where you can shoot, along with everything else gun related down there you can do? Makes it just such a big heartache not being able to buy cheap knock-off Chinese rifles................

I'm saying America has some stupidity too when it comes to gun freedoms.

How about a real 1921 Thompson, or an M3 Greasegun with a Hush Puppy on the end. How about a .22 LR Voere 180 and original laser pointer or a miniture rimfire Gatling Gun if your wallet is a little light that month?
Just think of the endless possibilities of a bona fide Class III owner, in a MG friendly state.
