best shottie for under 1000?

we really need more info than "best shottie"..what do you plan to use it for? and what are your expectations? Ive got close to $1600 into my Benelli Supernova Tactical and its my best all around defense shotgun. My $150 Stevens 67E w/30in. full choke barrel is my best bird gun and my $230 Maverick 88 pistol grip is my best compact/go anywhere shotgun thats cheap enough to abuse, light enough to pack in one hand or backpack etc. And there are many others on the market in your price range too. For $1000 you can build all kinds of crazy

Just a tip, youll find you get more feedback when you dont use teenage gansta terms like "Shottie".

We need some more information first before we can help you out. Semi or pump? mag capacity? barrel length? stocks? Aftermarket mods?

happy to help you out on this, we just need some more info

Shottie is just fine if you don't feel like typing down the whole word. Not really all that gangsta... What I didn't approve of was "thax" and "opinion's" mistake in OP's post. Should be "Everyone's opinions", IIRC.

Back to the topic at hand, I'll assume you're talking about a tactical style shotgun, and with that price range you have a few options. I'd take a 590 with a heat shield, 20" barrel, metal trigger assembly and safety assembly, 8+1 capacity and install ghost ring sights, a Speedfeed IV stock, a Tacstar side saddle and a second side saddle screwed into the stock, a bit like this.

This is mine, I got a 590A1 with the heavy barrel, but I find a standard contour with a heat shield would be nice too.

You can also go the Reminton route, but be sure to get a Police Magnum and not an express. I'd have pretty much the same setup with the Police Magnum, with the heat shield, ghost rings, stock and side saddles.

I don't really like recoil reducing stocks as 12ga doesn't kick any kind of hard and I want a solid stock that doesn't have any play whatsoever (impossible with knoxx type stocks and most other stocks) in any direction.

shotgun - 7 letters
shottie - 6 letters

is one more letter really that more difficult?

OK I'll switch the focus a little from grammar back to "shotties".
Under 1000 dollars get a Remington 870 Marine Magnum, Ellwood has them for $688.95 + tax and ship. Never rust, comes with a sling. I would not install a bolt on shell holder, its a good place for dirt and moisture to collect. I once bought a 870 that had a shell holder bolted on it, took it off and there was SAND behind it. Not cool, anyways heres a pic of the Marine Magnum.

THERE should be some restrictions on this sight only one question per week.

I think there are enough restrictions on CGN'ers with the rest of the world..

Maybe we can let people ask as many questions as they like here...

If your not ok with that, I'm pretty sure Ignatieff could use your skills in his camp

Gobles Firearms in S. Ontario has Beretta A391 Urika 2 12ga x 3"/28", Synthetic Stock, OBF Choked, Semi-Auto Shotguns on sale for $995. IMHO it's a better gun than the sx3.
