Hello and good day.
Been on a .22lr splurge as of recent.
I've bought several pistols in this caliber the past 3 months.
Here's one I would like to share with my fellow CGNers...Kel Tec PLR-22.
To start...manual, trigger lock (a very strange one), and just in case you have no access to a Philips #2...they are so kind to include one.
I purchased this from Arms East for $379.
Most of the pistol is polymer but steel is used on all important areas.
Weighing in at just 1.3kg (45.8 oz).
Overall length 18.5"
Barrel 10.1" with a 1:16 twist.
Fit and finish...fantastic.
There is a very stealth and clever bolt stop lever recessed in front of the trigger guard at the bottom.
The bolt will also hold open after the last round because of the red follower Black Dog mag.
Mags are sold seperately, good thing I've got a surplus of Black Dog Mags.
The top tube holds the recoil spring.
The first group of threads takes a suppressor.
The one under the knurled cap is 1/2"-28 for your standard AR muzzle breaks/ flash hidders...etc.
Bolt and breech face/ramp exhibit well machined craftsmanship.
Excellent steel knurled charging knob.
Factory grease...haven't cleaned this thing yet.
Removable and adjustable (slight windage only) steel rear sight.
Front sight is stantard A2 metal post.
As for the pistol in its stock form....it is just fine.
I'm terrible for keeping things bone stock...let's see what we can do for this fine pistol.
We'll start by adding a Red Lion Precision picatinny foregrip (model RPL #R5A).
I bought the kit package which comes with an aluminum trigger as well.
Next we'll need some optics, and the Bushnell TRS-25 micro red dot will do just the job.
And a good old Black Dog 26 round mag.
Now that's looking pretty good.
Now for those on a budget...the optional factory polymer foregrip is also very good...(shown on the SU-22 on the user manual cover up top).
I've been very busy with the family and will try a range report ASAP.
I would like to thank everyone's time and I hope you enjoyed the review.
UPDATE...range report.
Hello and welcome...returned from the range and I must say...this thing is wonderful.
With the addition of a Magpul RVG, it makes this a bit more fun and versatile...ie thumb break grip method.
With 600 rounds downrange, I had only one spent shell half ejected.
I found the weight to be very friendly and easy to handle...and with the little bit more heft of the Red Lion foregrip...it makes for very little muzzle rise.
The trigger starts with a moderate take-up with no creep and breaks crisp at about 5lbs.
With the absence of a stock (optional accessory), I found it a challenge to be on mark after 15m. Typical results with a stubby firearm like this one. But still maintained a pretty good group within 5 inches at that distance.
I bench fired at 20m with American Eagle 40gr roundnose using the Bushnell TRS-25 at an 8" Dirty Bird. After laserbore sighted the pistol, I took 5 shots just to see where I am...with a few tweaks...I'm quite happy with the results.
With everything you see in the pic...I spent only $50 bucks more than my stock Ruger SR-22 but this one is by far my most fun tactical type firearm.
That's all for now...bye.
