Canadian Tire Greatness

f**k some of you guys are small minded.....

Will they take a hit? 'Course not.

Will they notice that 900+ rounds of baby killing bullets are gone out of stock without record of them being sold? Yup.

Will they overreact to the above? Probably.

Will they consider it too large of a liability to continue to stock ammo as it is just "dissapearing"? Also likely.

Give yer heads a shake...stealing is stealing regardless of who it is from, Trying to justify it is just you trying to feel better about being a punk.

As if stealing isn't stupid enough, stealing ammo is likely to cause the store to stop selling it, thereby screwing over ALL gun owners in the area.....and thats not only morally repugnant, it's f**king stupid.

WTF is this world coming to.....men used to have honour, nows punks come in and brag about how they screwed a local retailer for multiple bricks of ammo....AND they get cheered on by other members!

Sad. Just friggin sad.....

Well I might chime in on this one , the OP stated that he went in and bought a brick of ammo that was dirt cheap and relizing that he bought the rest of it . Did any of you even ask or think mabey the store might be blowing it out because they might not be carrying that brand anymore? I have seen my CT in my location do that , years back they had federal 12g steel on for $2.50 a box ,when I asked they said they were not going to be stocking federal anymore and had to get rid of it asap for more space .

about 10 years ago walmart did the same on win22 mag ammo ,one brick of 250 rounds (5 boxs) were $5 , all 4 stores in my vacinity we doing it , same thing changing brands blow it out and get rid of it and I did ask if they were for real . needless to say bought a little over 14000 rounds of 22 mag ammo in a little over a month. the UPC would not scan the single box only the box the 250 came in and it did scan "250".

so before people start saying some one is ripping some one off , they might want to get there facts of the situation befor hand and mabey give there heads a shake . Sometimes there are honest good deals out there and that is a fact.

I would of done the same. Especially if it was walmart. Dont worry everything is 100% + mARKUP. Buy em and runnnnnn

I got my fav pack of condoms once

Durex-pleasuremax I believe, the pink package

And it was for sale for like 3$. I asked to make sure it was correct, and it was.

I call that a Win Win for that night ;)

What a bunch of f**kin hypocrites!!!!

You guys will sit there and f**k a mom and pop org like CT cause you can, and then probably the same peeps are renewing their certs cause of of the other thread....

Meanwhile, us taxpayers are paying the price due to higher income taxes (due to capital losses) and Calling in to re-register firearms (because of the thread encouraging calling the CFO to say that the certs were "lost" to prove a point).

Are you people f**kin not thinking this through??

Omfg

My certs arnt lost.. they are just incorrect.. they regerstered 3 firearms.. all 3 were wrong.. I had to call to fix them all...

I just checked a partial brick of Blazers that I have and the UPC is different on the brick than on the individual box. When I bought the brick the guy at the counter took a box out of the brick and scanned it then multiplied by 10. It is fairly obvious that someone entered the single box price into the UPC for the brick. You would have to be pretty dumb to think that a box of ammo that weighs more than 3 pounds is only worth $2.99. Would I take advantage of the situation... probably not... but then I haven't been tested by such a situation.

i once got 10 bricks at 6.99 each on a blowout at CT. The story was "well uh none of this is in the system so we'd rather you just take it then try to return it to the supplier who we have no record of selling this to us" I was good for 4 months.

It comes down to honesty and integrity. are they worth more than money or is money worth more than quality characteristics??

You're arguing over a box of .22's he didn't beat down and mug and elderly person.

If there was a price mistake and a box cost 2.99 I'd buy as much as I can too. Not my fault they labeled something wrong

you make the point, you think because its not illegal one can do it, that is EXACTLY why we are getting overrun will rules and regs especially in the gun world because guys like you don't have the common sense to do whats right beit legal or illegal without have someone tell you. It wasn't illegal it was simply wrong. DOn't need the police or judge to tell you that, but then again maybe you do

Dude are you serious? Like cmon.
And no I don't see it as being wrong I see it as my lucky day. A lot of stores have policies where whatever the price labeled on the item is what you pay for it even if they screwed up the price in your favour.

It sounds like the clerk made a mistake and only charged you for 50 rounds rather than 500 rounds.

Most likely but still awesome luck!!!

EDIT: After reading through so of the posts here...I have to say form past exp. working there that it ringing up wrong was THEIR mistake and their policy is for them to sell it as THE PRICE IT CAME UP AS! He still paid money for it so its not like it was free. They have expensive stuff stolen everyday, people can just walk out with 90% of things due to NO ALARMS. (apperently sotres with alarms have more stuff stolen due to the fact that you can remove the tags and then no one is watching the doors because the "alarms" will catch them) and people even walked bikes out....hell alot of the employees were stealing tons of stuff when I was working there.

The pricing mistake was certainly made by the Canadian Tire staff, and some of you are of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of that mistake. However, someone at some point will likely notice the missing ammunition, and it is quite likely that since the ammunition is locked up in most stores, staff members other than those that made the pricing error may very well be suspected of theft. That would likely result in even fewer people having access to the keys to the display, and even slower service for future customers.Or as someone has already posted, the store manager may see the product as a sales loss,or too much hassle to deal with, and simply discontinue the sale of ammunition as a result.Enjoy the savings now,but don't ##### if the service gets even slower,or they stop selling ammunition altogether.

Its kinda like getting to much change back at the drive through, their mistake but keeping it shows your true character.

Exactly the kind of attitude that speaks to ones character. Those kids and folks working there are contributing members of society, not some crack head stealing from innocents. Why the delight in their suffering because someone wasn't honest?

READ, the whole thread and my other posts before making uneducated comments..

Having worked for CT as a teen and extensively studied their business model at biz school I can assure you that there is absolutely nothing mom and pop about
Canadian Tire. They are a huge publicly traded company on the TSX (Home Depot modeled some of their early systems on CTs) with an enormous central distribution system. One of their shipping centers along Hwy 7 in Vaughan has over 400 truck bays and it is always full. Last year they had sales of $8.2 billion which was an increase of 11% over the previous year. They hold approximately $30 billion in assets and have 57 000 employees. They are big players in a lot of markets including oil and gas, white goods, housewares, automotive and hardware. They also own Autosource and Mark's Work Warehouse (120 stores). This is not your local mom and pop store.

Jeff

Thanks for your expertise. If you have 150,000 to invest you can buy one too. Everyone is a mom and pop operation. They are like Tim Horton's everyone is individually owned and operated. There are no chain stores like walmart, zellers or whatever.

The funny thing was if you went back later to try and return it the employees would be thinking "Ah crap, what a hassle, why did this guy bother coming back?" But hey, at least you are not a bad person anymore. Mom and Pop may even come up to you and personally thank you, tears welling up in their eyes.

"god bless you, young man, your entrance into heaven is certainly guaranteed now!
We were going to stop selling ammunition at all our stores across the country because it went missing, as we don't care about making money, being a simple mom and Pop operation. We just need enough to buy our grand babies Christmas presents."

This is the part where you hear violins and "Amazing Grace" in the background.

Too bad many people these days do not know the difference between right and wrong...and that there is no in-between.

I for one will surely remember not to deal with the original poster in this thread.

And why is that?

Just because you think that he took advantage of the situation? A mod even came into this thread to try to set all the persons who judged him for this straight, by saying that persons don't even know all the facts. For all we know there was a final sale on inventory for this particular store and they dumped all the ammo they had in a blowout.

Mind you the OP has not come back to better explain the situation doesn't help any, but on the other hand. With all that is being said in this thread ... I wouldn't either.
