Norinco M-93 Woodsman .22 Pistol

Thought I would update my status on this pistol.

I ordered one and received mine in the mail last week and took it out yesterday for the first time.

I put about 300 rounds through it and had about 10-12 misfires. The Bullet was hit by the firing pin but no explosions(I didn't try any of the misfires twice either). I don't think it is the ammo cause I never have had any misfires in my rifle with the same ammo.

Not sure if anyone else with a M-93 has had that many misfires or not. Let me know what you are all experiencing for yourselves.

Thanks!

Let me guess- remington thunderbolts, 500 pack. I've had several boxes with way too many duds- same symptom, different guns: strikes with no boom. Nasty , dirty stuff, IMHO.

I am still waiting for my M-93 from Marstar as well.. was hoping to get it out to the range this weekend... :( Sounds like I made a good decision to purchase one for the wife/son... and for me as well..

MSAN,
I ordered mine about 5 weeks ago, no idea why it took so long. Marstar thoughtfully cleaned the cosmoline off for me (the box was covered, but very little on the pistol). So far I like it a lot, it is a small pistol, and the short grip takes some getting used to. When I got home I put a small dot of my wife's white nail polish on the front sight so it'll show up better.
I'm going to order 2 more, one for her, and one for my boy. That'll be 3 fun little pistol's for $50 more than a Browning.

For all you new 93 owners out there, could you please check what's stamped on the gun?

The 93 I got from Dark 2 years ago is stamped "Sportsman". I really enjoy it, very good value for the price.

Am wondering if there are two models floating around out there.

norinco china, and 126 in a triangle on the right side

I received two in the mail this week. Gave them both a total take down and cleaning.

One had a bit of surface rust under the side plate, no pitting though. One of the pistols had an issue with the assembly lock (the spring steel that holds the recoil spring and guide when disassembling), the assembly lock was not bent properly to catch the guide rod, a slight bend and that was fixed.
The last thing I noticed was that a mag release that seems a bit too long and does not want to let the mag drop with out a fight. I may have to reduce the lip on it as this happens on only one of the pistols with both mags.

I'll be taking them to the range tomorrow and give them a good workout.

So for the price I'm not disappointed. A friend has one and I've shot it a bit and they are quite reliable. If there was something really wrong with them I know that Marstar would replace it no problem.

I have both colt pre-woodsman and woodsman pistols (first series).
Although the disassemble is similar the additional safety features makes it a bit different from the original colt. The M93 will be a nice addition to the collection a as modern day copy of a classic pistol.

gnmontey , regarding the stamps on the gun, they are not marked "sportsman" although the box they come in is labeled "sportsman semi-automatic pistol"
they are stamped as dandk2004 posted

I just picked on up from Badger Arm today and after looking at it closely I've come to the conclusion that this is the best $150 I've ever blown. From what I've heard about this gun I don't know If I'll ever need another .22 pistol

M-93;
We have plans to do a "maintenance video" on this pistol....

They have been extremely popular and reliable, in all respects....

John

Please do.

Getting mine apart the first time was easy. Getting it back together now that was a whole different story mainly because I didnt want to force anything and in this case you sorta do have to do a little forcing.

Yes, if you using Remington/Winchester ammo...absolute no no for this gun

The first one I got was as you described, the second of mine has SPORTSMAN on the frame near the barrel
