Norinco M-93 Woodsman .22 Pistol

I have maybe 1 FTF in 100 rounds using Fed bulk pack ammo. Did you clean and lube it before going to the range?

Yeah, I spent like 2 hours cleaning and lubing it cause it was covered in that really heavy oil that stinks.

Looked way better after a good cleaning!!

AAAhhhhhh cosmoline, the smell of victory!

I took the grips off mine and gave the whole thing a good spray cleaning with brake cleaner, then lubed it with CLP.

Give the gun a chance to break in.

I've had one for a couple of years and it shoots a heck of a lot better than I do. Probably over 1000 rounds through it and never cleaned it yet. No issues at all with it.... well perhaps the rear sight, it is a bit loose.

Yeah, I will give it a chance to break in and see if it gets any better. I will try a few different kinds of ammo on it as well, see if that helps.

I only took mine apart once. I lock back the slide and do all my cleaning that way. It's pretty reliable for a .22! But Winchester ammo is a no no. Federal works 100%

Is there a disassembly manual around any where? (don't have mine yet) I remember reading to be careful when taking it apart because of some of the springs?

it comes with- it's a small booklet affair - the main thing is, inspite of what you've been told or read, DON'T do a detail strip- that's when you need 3 hands and a lot of luck to put it back together- just a clean the barrel and breechface, oil the rails and turn it upside down to get the hammer, , and q-tip anuthing that looks diret, and then oil that- i'm coming up on 5 years and about 5k rounds through mine, and that's all i've ever done-just like the nylon 66, you're fine as long as you don't take it apart

ok, no detail stripping then.. I was just wondering on how to clean it properly the first time do get rid of all the grease.. guess I'll try the brake cleaner as well :)

The one I had was extremely reliable. It fed every ammo I ever tried in it and only jammed after it got really dirty. If memory serves me when really dirty it would fail to fire because the slide wouldn't close properly (because of a dirty chamber) resulting in a light hit of the primer. Give it a cleaning and it would feed anything again for another 500 rounds. I also had a ruger heavy barrelled pistol at the time and the ruger was more accurate but the norinco was less picky about ammo and was still reasonably accurate.

mine actually NEEDED a bit of lube to begin with- IT WAS BONE DRY right out of the box- but i got it from lever, not marstar, and it was a gift from my brother- it is POSSIBLE that somewhere along the line it was cleaned up BEFORE i got it- it also came with 2 magazines, and was under 100 at the time

I've found pretty detailed instructions on line for the Colt Woodsman- even explained how to trouble shoot reassembly problems. Can't find the link at the moment, but it should still be out there.

M-93;
We have plans to do a "maintenance video" on this pistol....

They have been extremely popular and reliable, in all respects....

Yup, got one, it's a great little gun and very reliable. Coming-up on 6k. Rear sight is loose, and mine was never a tack-driver; but was accurate enough.
I usually take it to the range even when I'm not planning to shoot it. Makes a great gun for kids to try (with heir parents permission, of course) because of the small grips.

you have to find the RIGHT woodsman though- there ARE differences- you want the pre-war, 1915 model, not the secod or 3rd model

I bought one years ago from Lever Arms and it hs been a POS. Two trips to the gunsmith has not resolved: light firing pin strikes resulting in failure to fire, frequent failure to extract and bump firing.

I only use it to train for failure drills. It is a POS.

I'm sure that the later versions are better and that I got a lemon.

Finally got my m-93 in the mail today from Marstar. I cleaned it and went right to the range. I fed it 50 rounds each of Rem thunderbolts, Win x-pert, Win 36 gr hollowpoints (555 bulk pack), CCI stingers, and CCI velocitors. No failures whatsoever. I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy. Overall, a much better gun than I was hoping for for $150.

I was hoping that mine would arrive today, but I guess I have to wait till Monday :(

Anything you don't like about it?
