Knights SR-25's pre order

People forget that the lmt weighs in at about 9.98 lbs and the KAC weighs in at about 8lbs 5 oz. If you can accept the lmt is 1.5 pounds heavier before optics then the lmt is for you, but if can't or won't accept that and can afford 7kish then the Sr25 is for you.

I wasn't making fun of you!!! :p....I was making fun of everyone else that drops a small fortune just to say they have something from "Knights Armament Company" H:S:

Too each their own. God knows I've spent big $ on stuff most people would consider silly ;)

.

Haha I realize that now.. ... I was on the defensive and didnt put much thought into it... my bad ;) So it's fair to say then that for the extra money it's all about name? Or are you truely getting more rifle?

KAC makes damn fine stuff, but they charge twice the price for stuff than it's really worth. Buying KAC really is like buying a Porsche product....an "eye of the beholder" thing.

I think KevinB put it best when he stated that the LMT would be just fine for 95% of shooters. If I was carrying a battle rifle like the KAC/LMT in theater, I'd probably want a rifle that was a little lighter and better balanced. Probably pay for it too. The SR25 saves weight by dimpling the barrel and not using a monolithic platform. Also, and I don't know if this is true, but maybe the SR25 maintains its accuracy to a greater degree through sustained fire, where as the LMT does not. For most shooters in the civi world firing five round groups and low rates of fire the barrel may never be tested to the degree that the SR25 is capable of performing. Perhaps there is some metallurgy genius behind the SR25? Other than the KAC name, the weight and balance advantages, and perhaps some minor quality control stuff I don't see the advantage over the LMT. JMHO

Heres my take on LMT vs KAC

LMT buy it and spend the extra 3K on ammo etc.
I would and i wouldnt clean it till it starts to jam.

KAC like most whom are going to buy it take it out once in a while fire a box of 20, clean it and put back in safe to look pretty.

The porche analogy is pretty spot on do you ever see a porche with 1/2 inch of mud on it from taking it down gravel roads, Nope didnt think so!!

Where's the KevinB floodlight when you need it? :D

Because it can put bullets into one raggedy hole far away? And it seems to be very well engineered.
Using this method of thinking, trying to obtain "one raggedy hole", I could use the 6K+ and purchase 10 SKS rifles, 20 or so cases of 7.62x39, a couple of bags of ice, a few fire extinguishers, some gloves and make "one ragged hole" too, (only my way would be way louder, more fun, and a group exercise!!) And there would still be money left over to buy a lot of beer for the 9 friends I took shooting with me to discuss the "fine engineering" of the 10 sks rifles that are now sitting in the middle of the circle , still smoking, and partly melted/burned. YEEE FRIGGIN HAWWW!!!

Hey, whatever makes you happy. Personally, I don't feel the need to "justify" purchases.

That could be said for most guys with any decent restricted long gun.

I'm not gonna spend a ton of money for something to not use it.

This thread has become filled with jealousy & envy, if you have the cash and want a premium rifle, well there it is. Just be happy they are now available, some real cry babies on here these days, the amount of time some of you B**** about it on here you could work the extra hours on a second job and afford it anyway! Better to buy once than 2 or three times, not that LMT falls even close to that category, if i didn't buy my MR308 i would be on the phone right now with "ONE SHOT TACTICAL". KAC products are awesome, and have always been top notch in my book, so thanks too OST for bringing in this line and making it available. I know Questar has done the same as well with KAC and many others too, so we are doing well up here in Canada for options, a lot better than 8 years ago from what I remember!

This thread has become filled with jealousy & envy....

Funny how this never comes up when people talk about the PGW guns, since they cost a s**tload as well. And yes, they are non-restricted, but how many of them are shot off a range anyway.

No one #####es when people pay close to $4k for a Swiss Arms CQB with taxes, a rail, optic, extra mags, etc, when a shorty Stag will do the same job for under $2k.

And I remember when the SR-25 was first shown, people were drooling and crying about it not being available up here. Now that there are some around, all people can do is ##### and cry about why it's so expensive.

How about not crying about it, and just go out and buy a DPMS, or Remington R-25 if you don't want to spend the money on Knights.

Leibermuster and wicked are both right. I have a friend who bought the HK MR308, I honestly admit that I shake my head when I see it. Fine rifle, but I did not understand the need for a gun that cost that much that he shoots a box or two through once a month, but it is what he wanted and I respect that. Would I ever spend this kind of $$$ on either of these guns myself? No, no matter how much $$$ I had, but kudos to those who do, because that is what you wanted and that is what you worked and saved for and bought and enjoy.

Let the haters hate.

SR-25's are expensive but so are the ridiculous 4x4 off road, gas drinking grocery getters that some of you guys drive. Lets keep things in perspective.

6.5K is not that expensive - in comparision to other expensive hobby items.

People have to accept lots of money go into goodwill, brand recognition and other intrinsic value. People pay alot of money for a "brand" because they believe the brand commands a premium for better quality, better R&D.....etc.

You are not getting an answer you want if you do not recognize the above. It is like trying to compare Japanese sports car with the Italian and German......and question why one is 2X the price of another.

Yup, This thread has gotten silly.
Good thing the guys complaining about the cost of the SR-25 aren't into really expensive restricted hobbies like dirtbiking and lets not talk about what it costs to race one of these machines.

I want an AR-10 and a good one. I've tried trading my sister to Epoxy7 for 1 of his but have had no success. I will now have to resort to something called saving up. Whiners you might want to try it too.

Don't talk to me about silly.....I own a Harley. And what an awesome Harley it is
