Shooting a Magpie

Stepping on a magpie's head is no different than wringing a duck's neck(as others have already posted) or smashing in a keeper walleye's skull with a club(there are even commercially made clubs for this purpose) as is the law when fishing on certain lakes....Lac Suel for instance.
Well.... you don't hafta use a club, lots are killed by snapping their necks .
I've shot a few magpies, vermin that they are .That being said there are two magpies that use different tactics to steal food from the dogs' dish that are very entertaining to observe , so we haven't shot them....yet .
It wouldn't be hard to net one of these for Danceswithempties but would hafta wait 'til next spring to get a young one .

I shot 6 magpies yesterday out of about 35 that were doing their best to clean up on a moose gutpile.
I used my .223 with Sierra 50 grain Blitzkings and there was no walking wounded left about.
Range was exactly 125 meters over a steady rest.
I did however miss three shots cleanly so I guess that makes me as unethical as the OP as I could easily have accidently shot the beak off one instead of missing it completely.

I tried to shoot some of those whores the other day but no luck. I did smash one with a shovel and tossed it into the ditch. I have no intention of eating it. Nor the 17 coyotes, 14 beavers, 70+ gophers and one ran over fawn that I broke it`s neck to end it`s suffering that I have killed this year. I would have taken the shot for sure. Targets of opportunity are still targets.

As some others have said, noone flamed the dude for ripping the ducks head off, or the people who post pics and videos of shooting gophers and laughing as they get annihilated, so who cares?!

heaven forbid someone posts a story about a REAL LIFE hunting situation where sometimes things dont go exactly as planned. maybe those who are flaming dont hunt very often and need to get back to reality instead on watching too many hunting shows where everything goes perfect?
some are #####ing because he took the shot while he was out of breath and wasnt totally steady. ok...so that makes MOST other hunters idiots as well? i wonder how many big game animals have been taken when the hunter was experiencing really bad buck fever and couldnt get the crosshairs steady? better not shoot at those flying ducks, running rabbits, or deer being dogged either as it may not end perfectly like on tv.
some are even whining about how he dispatched the wounded animal. how stupid could you guys be? its a small animal that is mortally wounded and he finished the job with a stomp so i dont see the problem. are waterfowlers suppose to use their 12 gauge to finish a bird when they can break its neck instead?

I think the OP is actually Sacha Baron Cohen...you know Borat, Ali G, and Bruno...this whole thread starting from his original post was just a sociological experiment.....throw the jew down the well.....He tossed out the "stomping on its head" part to make the closet anti's come out from hiding. This is My personal favorite thread, non stop nonsence....well half of it is, the other half is quite logical, perhaps its the contrast that is so amusing.

I can't believe this thread is still active today! Seems like a nonisue really.
I'm upset it's died down a bit. I saw that bear grillis (whatever his name is) put a snakes head in his mouth, give the body a yank to break it's neck. Perhaps the schoolyard monitors are too busy writing letters to the producer.
