Found a wild boar to hunt

I know whereabouts he lives.....perhaps some wild bacon could buy my silence ???:p Can't wait to hear how it goes when you finally make it out there though, KDX.

LOL. I was talking to a guy at work today about making some bacon if I get one of these porkers. I've used the Buckboard Bacon cure before on pork butt steak that I sliced thinner and it turned out really good. Wednesday I will be able to get out there, hopefully they haven't been scared off by then.

He hired a couple of guys to help with harvest and apparently they got pretty excited when they found out so the boar might be dead already. There are some sows also. Maybe they would be better eating?

So did you get your pig yet? I was out for moose last Thursday and got another one. My biggest one yet I would guess 400lbs plus. I bet he stood 3' tall at the shoulder and was abot 5' to 6' long (looked like a 45 gal drum with legs). The butcher said he was bigger than the meat pigs he gets in the shop. I took the head to my taxidermist and he figured he could fix the hole in his head from the .325 and put some fake tusks back in as his his were broke off.

LOL. Nice shot placement. I didn't get out today, but am hoping to get out tomorrow. They got into a (oats) grain bag so my farmer friend is pretty pissed. I took my 30-06 out today to sight it in as I haven't shot it for 5 years or so  and I was shooting 7" high @ 100 yards for some reason. I dialed it in @ 1" high @100 yards so I'm good to go if I get out tomorrow night. Apparently the boar is about 3' high at the shoulder so it is a good size from what I've heard. There are 5 sows and about 20 weanlings in that group.

I just got a call and one was shot last night (not sure if it was the boar) and apparently they are pretty shy about coming out of the bush right now. I was emailed some pics of a 'trap' where a big fence with a one way gate is put to capture them at a food source. Looks pretty slick.;)

If they are trapping them you don't need a rifle. Just put on your chainsaw pants, :p climb in the trap with the pig throw it to the ground and stab it. :D

If the farmer goes this route there should be 20-30 in there. I might need a pitch fork.;)

WTF already ... where's the oinker pics?

P.S. that video of the chopper hunting wild boars was FN bad-AZZ ... :D

Make sure you leave none standing. Don't just go there and take 1 pig, all that does is make them smarter. These things are like rats, the way they multiply. They are fast and can be cranky if you just wing them.
I have 24 of them coming to my bait and they have chased the deer away. Waiting for snow and then the killing will resume. I am at around 175 of them in the past 3 winters.
