So for a while now I have been meaning to look for another 7.62x39mm rifle (got a full crate of ammo ;)), and the VZ-52/57 has really intrigued me! I don't know why, but I think I might start looking for one of these. I have previously had an SKS which was great, but this VZ-52 looks pretty sick!

I'm sure there are other threads on CGN about the VZ-52/57, but I was wondering if someone could give me a bit of info on it. What should I expect to pay for one? Can you load stripper clips of x39mm ammo right into it, or do you need to manually load the magazine? Did they ever make any bigger mags for it than just 10 rounds.... would look pretty slick with a 5/20 rounder :D

Any info on it would be great, thx!

Expect to pay 500+$ for one in good shape. The stripper that we currently have with the czech ammo dont work with the vz52/57. Only have 10 rounder mag on thoses and spare mags can be hard to find. Owners of VZ52 say they found the rifle more accurate than a SKS and are very reliable.

That kinda sucks, I was REALLY hoping the Czech ammo on stripper clips would just pop right in like it does on the SKS :(

Thanks for the info regarding the price as well :)

I had one in mint shape. It could really shoot - I mean for a red rifle, it was accurate and very reliable. I sold it to a buddy that really wanted one and got pretty good coin for it. Classic rifle. True, the stripper clips we have didn't work, and I never located a spare mag for it even though I looked diligently for months. For the money, I would buy an 858.

Make sure the gun comes with dedicated 7.62x39 magazines and not reworked one from the Model 52's. Reworked magazines have problems with feeding rounds consistently.
Dedicated 52/57 magazines have worked flawlessly with mine.

I have a nice one with all the bits. The mags are rare because they were only issued with two. The stripper clips are impossible to find, and frankly, I don't think they're out there. Everyone tries to sell me the regular czech ones. I'd like to see one, they must be incredibly thin to fit that guide. Shoots great, with very like climb on recoil. Basically straight back. Really neat design.

The Vz52/57s are very nicely made rifles. I bought my first one a few months ago... came with 3 original 7.62x39 mags :dancingbanana:

They're not that common, but I've seen about 3 in the last 6 months. Unless you get lucky, I'd expect to pay about $500+ for one in good condition with 1 magazine.

A really nice shouldering rifle, well machined receiver, and the trigger group (ala Garand) is truly nifty.

You can find the strippers in the Czech 7.62x45 surplus.

But I want them for a vz52/57. 7.62x39. They wouldn't work, would they? x45 would be wider stripper clips, I would assume, and the czech x39 clips are too wide for the guide, so... meh, like I said, I've never seen one. Point me where to buy, and I will!

Both cartridges will fit the stripper clip. Guides on both rifles are virtually identical.

There are stripper clips out there, they are just hard to find.

The VZ 52 and the VZ 52/57 use the same stripper clip, these ones I have here are from a VZ 52 and work fine. As far as I am conerned, these rifles are the best made milsurp 7.62x39 rifle ever made.

I'd agree along with the Rasheed, are nicer to shoot than a SKS. Only problem with both is they are a lot harder to clean compared to a SKS.

I just noticed the stripper clips you want I have on 7.62x25. They came on the ammo. 7.62x39 does fit on them.
