VZ-52/57 Rifle..

A whiter shade of pale...

I had one in mint shape. It could really shoot - I mean for a red rifle, it was accurate and very reliable.

Czechs are very different shade of Red and it shows in every rifle they make...
And the VZ-52/57 is in a class by itself.
I have SKS, Rashid, VZ-858 and VZ-52/57 rifles and the two most accurate are the VZ-52/57 and the Rashid.
If you can afford one, by any means do it.
PP. :)

I'm going to be looking for one of these eventually to round out the "milsurp collectable" category of my collection.

Maybe someone with access to a stamping press may want to make some repro stripper clips for these interesting and elegant rifles.

This might be a silly question, but can you scope this rifle?
Unless you want to make a $150.00 rifle with a $500.00 one, you must refrain from scoping a VZ-52/57; it is no 1980 chinese Norinco SKS!
Only some of them have been arsenal-fitted with a welded scope base meant for a very bulky night vision aiming device.
EOS had one for sale about a month ago on the Milsurp Exchage forum. I think the night vision sight is still for sale.
Enjoy your VZ in the raw, with her iron sights; you might be surprised how far you can hit things with it.

In America, one of the magazine dealers had factory 20 round magazines for the vz52/57..

being that i am from america and have scoured the nation for magazines for this rifle, i have never, never, never ever ever ever seen 20 rounders here for this rifle! 2 buddies of mine have these rifles, and if there was 20 rounders for them we would have known, and i would have bought one of these rifles for that!!!! all that we have ever found, seen, searched, and heard of here in america are 10 rounders! but if you know for a fact they are here, please by all means post a link to where my buddies here could buy them, and damned the cost lol!!!

Here's a great set of pictures of Vz 52/57s including one with the factory scope rail:

After seeing eos' WTS for his scoped Vz 52/57, I went in search of more information and came across the above link. Beyond that album, there is virtually no other information on scoped Vz 52/57's. I contacted the author and owner of this Vz 52/57 and he was able to give me a bit of info on how these rare scoped Vz 52/57 came to be. The gist is that they arrived unbeknownst in a crate to a Canadian importer and were purchased by a US dealer. Not many have shown up since, with the author suspecting that there are about 8 in total. From one Czech gov't source, they were used by the border patrol from fixed positions.

I suspect a POSP may also fit on the rail, and be quite a bit less bulky than the NSP2 pictured. That being said, the Vz 52/57 is not a light rifle, so I think it's better to leave it unscoped.
