pump action shotguns

870p > 870 Wingmaster > 590A1 > DA Griz > 870express > the rest

Just my own personal opinion, for the role of "tactical pump shotgun." I seriously doubt I'll buy an 870 express, ever. I have an 870 Super Magnum, which I only keep for the very off chance I ever get an itch for bird hunting. My tactical, fun shotguns, are a 590A1, and an 8.5 inch griz. I'd also not be averse to buying another griz, preferably mag-fed. Only thing that sucks hard about the DA Griz's, is you cannot take them to the USA, for any purpose, ever.

So if you take anything from my post here, it's go ahead and ignore all of the good advice given and buy an Ithaca. I'm sure all the Ithaca fans, are just too busy putting aftermarket parts on the Ithaca's to post about how great they are

Do you know if the 870 aftermarket barrels(example: Dlask) will fit the Super Magnums as well or just the regular 870 Express? I'm currently trying to decide between these two, as I will be buying a 12.5" barrel for it down the road. I'll go with the Super Mag, but only if I can get a 12.5" barrel for it.

They should fit. Just remembering the aftermarket barrel is likely chambered for 2.75 and 3 inch shells, and won't take 3.5'ers.

The 870 did not pass military tests? Do you know why? Remington did not enter the 870 into the military trials. It has passed numerous times in the past, as well as just about every police department on the planet's tests.

An 870 would be an excellent choice.

I served in the jungles of SE-Asia, and I've been 'Sheriff's SWAT, I agree completely with all of your statements, but; the demands, mission envelope, and field conditions, of rural vs urban environments are completely different. I've owned just about every 12ga. pump made in the
last 40-years, and I would have to say that all comparisons are 'even draws' and most everyone who manufactures/retails firearms in today's market are producing good firearms to a particular buyer.
