Congrats Bubba!!

Lots of wind...Did you make any adjustments for it?

Some guys have all the luck! Getting a big moose is pretty darn sweet! Good shooting - do you have any after action pics - did you hit with the first shot? Where did the second bullet hit? It looked like the neck but it would be nice to see where the bullet finished. As well if you recovered the bullet pics of that would be pretty neat!

Very neat video(s) to watch. Congrats on that!

PS just curious, where was this? which region of BC? The scenery looks great :) (sorry I am from eastern ontario, so seeing stuff like that is completely based on videos like yours and books...and maybe trips lol.)

wind? nothing that will push a bullet more than a few feet at that distance ;)

Yah, It didn't look like there was much wind at Gate's position, but it looked like 15mph at the moose? Hard to tell in the vid.
From what I could see I would have held on the far front of the shoulder and hoped the wind would blow the bullet back into the ribs...Worse case would have been a smashed shoulder.

Def. not chucking stones...Just curious.

Damn thing looked like it was pissing itself after the first shot when it was standing there frozen in fear.

Didn't take the .375 because we were also hunting sheep, and the NEW KING is about a pound heavier than my 300WSM. I figured every bit helps, as Steve likes to PUNISH people that hutn with him.:D

We had actually just completed a 6 hour hike up and down valleys and through burns and sat down for lunch when we spotted this moose, just a Km from camp!:)

Wind was coming towards us, with a slight left to right direction. I'd like to say that some errant gust was responsible for the poor shooting, but I can't:p

I held on the shoulder first shot (or thought I did, as I clearly didn't) but the second shot the wind likely pushed the bullet a couple of inches, as I aimed a couple of inches to the left of where it landed.

I don't normally get "buck fever" so I really think I was giggling (Steve and I are always laughing during hunting) or just yanked the trigger thinking it was a slam dunk due to the huge target...That's what complacency gets you!
