I've seen a couple of foxes basically in my back yard recently and was wondering if they would find my cat to be a tempting morsel or if they would leave her alone if she was out there. I live on the edge of town and these foxes live in town and are digging for ground squirrels behind my house. The pics are from behind my house and the neighbor's yard beside me.

Coyotes sure as hell will.
An article in a local paper a while back told of a construction crew bulldozing an area for a new subdivision came across a coyote den. In it, there was about 30 cat collars.

Cats are great coyote bait, I think you should coat him in some bacon strips and ring the dinner bell next time you let him loose.

Seriously though, cats are way too destructive to let run loose outside. I'm glad when I hear about them getting eaten.

I once watched a large cat & a fox square of in the middle of a road.
The fox wanted to eat the cat but the cat held it's ground facing the fox, it was a stand off, the cat showed no fear & even relaxed enough to sit down!
The fox decided it wouldn't be worth the risk & left.

This is how I imagine things would usually go. Now Fishers on the other hand are murder for cats...

I am a varmint hunter but I truly believe you are lucky to have an opportunity to have a wild animal live so close by - unless you have stock animals... A friend of mine once said that he has two types of animals - "killing deer" and "looking deer". Looks like you got a looking fox. It looks like he is digging a burrow in your yard.

As for your cat, just don't let it out...

You're an idiot and a troll.

I don't know of anything more destructive than a dog wandering loose.

I have yet to see a cat; raid a chicken coop, run a deer or calf, maul a child, or attack another pet. Guess what I've witnessed dogs doing?

Obviously you have been influenced by the moron ornithologists in the States who blame cats for songbird destruction. Which has proven to be a bunch of BS.

I sent the pics to my neighbors on either side of me and the one (not from the pics) emailed back that they had been on her deck and have taken 4 dog toys so far (they just got a new Lab pup a week or so ago).

I've got a 17 Fireball sitting here that hasn't been used too much this year. I'm thinking CB Longs in the 22, or maybe just some AE22.

old Fir tree went down in Gibsons a couple years ago with an eagles nest on top of it. they found 11 cat collars in it,how many actually wear collars !. Cats are part of the food chain & if a fox can get it running its toast. If its a decent size and will stand its ground the fox will deffinatly look for easier prey.

I don't know if it is a good idea to shoot the little guy without discussing with your neighbors first. You might have a nature lover and you wouldn't want the cops at your door wanting to see your guns because they think you discharged a firearm in town. I would just call the local fish cops to deal with it if the fox becomes a pest. Not worth losing your guns over...

Some of you guys must remember I have those silent 300fps 450gr 45-70 loads if I could get within 50 yards its down for the count...

:p
