Bushmaster ACR Canadian Pricing ***UPDATE Pg. 15***

Did that thing fire two rounds on the first round with the second mag? I know there are some ACRs in Canada. That is a fact...but I don't know who paid out the A$$ to get them here. I agree that it's WAY over priced. Just go get a Swiss rifle or a high end AR and be done with it!

Sure looked like a double shot, maybe it is worth $3200 :)

Really? the qualities not there? Why do they proclaim this the ultimate battle rifle then? Please elaborate a bit more, nobodies ever mentioned this.

I had a look at the original Magpul Masada. Not sure how much Bushy has changed it around, but the Masada design was an extruded (think how Play-Doh is squeezed out) rectanguar tube, with parts milled away. It then had steel rails riveted inside for the bolt carrier to ride in.
To my thinking, this makes more sense than the AR-15 way.

There is nothing wrong with Extruded aluminum anyways, as long as its heat treated properly afterwords.

Extruding is the same as forging, as in it reduces the amount of material you need to machine away later. Aluminum ladders for example, need to have lots of strength and not much weight. Most of the parts are maybe 1/16th of an inch thick and can have the weight of a BIG human moving around on it with no issues.

Aluminum gets MOST (like 80% IIRC) of its strength from the T6 heat treatment process, weather its Billet, forging or extruding, or even if it was injection cast (although 7075 is not good for casting, too thick... most cast aluminum has silicon in it to aid in flowing into the mold, which also weakens it) as long as heat treatment is done its going to be JUST as strong as a forged receiver, but they use less material.

Aluminum is not like steel - which depends greatly on the granular structure of the metal - Aluminum gets its strength from heat treating, so wherever all this "extruded = junk" came from, is exactly that. Junk.

ETA

the proof is in the pudding, since the SCAR has extruded Aluminum receiver too, and is doing great in all the endurance trials its run though.

They will charge a stupid high price because there will be those few who pay it to get the first batch.
They did that for the first Colts they brought in and the first MR223's

As soon as more become available, the price will plummet. This is a non-restricted rifle and importing it will be a no brainer. This is a rifle from a major manufacturer that already has a distribution network, there are no expensive import costs to cover. Somebody like Kodiak Outpost can do it and sell them for $2500 and make money.

This is a quote I keep handy and it seems appropriate.

The 'high price pimps' are killing our sport. They tolerate higher prices to feel 'elite.' They are, of course, wankers. I like the idea of buying this rifle, but will pass in a heartbeat if the price is high. Screw it - I just won't go there.

$3200 for the basic? Not a chance. There are many other rifles rifles that are less expensive, more mature, with more available accessories.

Even $3200 for the enhanced, you are merely paying for the fact that it's an ACR, which in reality if you think about it doesn't mean much, it's mostly a hype-machine.

Doesn't Remington and Bushmaster have a huge Canadian dealer network? If the FRT# stays the same then won't these be readily available like any other Remington product? I hope so cause Im sure the price will drop once they become more readily available.

I guess some of the Canadian dealers just want to get their first round gougings in. I almost wanted to reach through the phone and choke that guy at CRAFM after he told me the "new" price.... but, Im not a violent man.

IMHO if you cant justify the price and you just say, "it is what it is" then that is the definition of price gouging.

That price is ridiculous... I can understand a certain amount of markup for the import paperwork and the time it takes to do everything, but REALLY? 3200?

I'd stick with guys like VAULT and the RFB. At least they seem to try and stick to their projected price points...

"I pressed the guy hard for details and although he was reluctant to spill all the beans, I did manage to finagle a price out of him."

Ever think he just gave you a ballpark estimate to get you off his ass. That's my bet.

Also, unless you asked if you could post this price on the forums if I was him I would be the one pissed off at you. He was nice enough to give you any info, period(seeing as he doesn't have the actual product in-hand) in a private email and you act like that a finalized price and go spreading it around.

Unless he guaranteed anything you can't really be mad IMO. And if that is the case and he did guarantee then I can understand your positioning, although most dealers would never do that without having the product.

Ah no, I asked him once about the price. He said, "Around 2300, no more then 2600" Seems like a pretty straight forward answer to me. Normally if you're not sure about price you keep your mouth shut. If the guy would've said I dont know yet, then I would have said fine.

WTF are you on? Why do I need to ask permission to post a price I was quoted? ...He was nice enough to give me info? are you for real? News flash bud, it's his f**king job to sell guns! Just so you know it was not email it was over the phone. In sales if you dont know something you keep your mouth shut, period. He gave me a price range and I passed the info along. It's not my fault he spouted off the wrong info and came in 1000 low. Give your head a shake. You act like this guy was doing me a favor by trying to sell me a gun.

Weren't you the guy claiming the Swiss Arms looks like junk because you could bend it in half?

I was trying to make a funny. :D

No I said it looked like s**t cuz it's made out of stamped steel... lol :p
