Kinda neat! Looks like a series of photos of the progress made in restoring the Littlefield Panther.

...............Klunk already has one of those......................he uses it to drive into town for beer..............

That's awesome. Ever since the 40s, Germany has always had the best tanks. I'm ever glad Canada chose to adopt the Leopards as our standard medium tanks.

Talk about the unexpected. We were out for a fall drive today and stopped in at a fruit and veg stand in Keremeos when along comes an "SS trooper" lookalike on a camo painted motorcycle with an SS sign on the front fender. He was dressed up in a smock with proper M1935 helmet with goggles and had what looked to be a dewat or repro MP40 slung around his neck. There was a dewat or repro MG34 mounted on the sidecar with a female companion in an RCAF greatcoat "manning" it. Maybe she was a shot down POW or something:confused: I wish I had a camera. I was thinking that he must have a well rehearsed story for the local polizie by now.;) I was also thinking that he may well have been shot out of his saddle by a vet if he had showed up in that getup a generation ago.

Keremeos is a nice place along the Similkameen River in the heart of orchard, vineyard, gardening and ranching country. I did find a very scarce and authenticated M1C Garand down there several years ago.:)

.....................the SS trooper on the motorcycle.........................that was probably Klunk too....................running to town to pick up parts for the Panther...............and beer................

I got to crawl around in the Littlefields Panther prior to the final drive and engine going in, the last time I visited his place was a month before he died. After spending the whole day touring the shop, buildings and the storage buildings, our group went for a bear, he came down in his Porsche to join us. Neat guy, he will be sorely missed. Several of the people I know worked closely with him.

I saw a motorcyle and sidecar combo this summer in Penticton. It was going the other way in traffic, so I didnt get a good look at it, but it did have an MG34 on it. I could see the round holes in the barrel shroud.
Must be the same guy, I cant imagine two setups like that running around BC!

Darn Nazis. They just keep popping up anywhere. I'm going into Penticton today for "Seniors Day" at Zellers. Maybe I should take along the Thompson, or the BREN, or something. You never know....;)

snip...

Reminds me of the story my (sadly deceased) friend told of dressing up in full (real) SS uniform at halloween and coming down-stairs to where his (ex POW) father was...

Events did not seem quite as amusing at the time as it did 30 odd years later... :nest:

Same thing, had a friend going to a Halloween party in an SS officer's uniform. Got stopped by the police for a traffic violation. Rather embarrasing.
He claimed to be part Indian, so we called him "Leaping Luger":D
