Talk about the unexpected. We were out for a fall drive today and stopped in at a fruit and veg stand in Keremeos when along comes an "SS trooper" lookalike on a camo painted motorcycle with an SS sign on the front fender.

He was dressed up in a smock with proper M1935 helmet with goggles and had what looked to be a dewat or repro MP40 slung around his neck. There was a dewat or repro MG34 mounted on the sidecar with a female companion in an RCAF greatcoat "manning" it. Maybe she was a shot down POW or something

I wish I had a camera. I was thinking that he must have a well rehearsed story for the local polizie by now.

I was also thinking that he may well have been shot out of his saddle by a vet if he had showed up in that getup a generation ago.
Keremeos is a nice place along the Similkameen River in the heart of orchard, vineyard, gardening and ranching country. I did find a very scarce and authenticated M1C Garand down there several years ago.
