Korth is the sole legal importer in Canada for Leupold. Every Leupold that is in the country legally comes through Korth's doors whether you buy it at Reliable Gun in Vancouver, Bass Pro, WSS, or Coastal Marine in Mount Pearl. Korth is the point of entry and distribution point for Leupold's scopes. It seems to me that Leupold wants to ensure that their customers deal with their exclusive importer and have a single point of contact when they have service or warranty issues. Rather than Leupold having to deal with people circumventing the guys that have put in the time to become the importer, Leupold is taking steps to protect the importer. No different than the major automakers did. If you don't like it, then buy something else. I doubt that enough guys will sell off their Leupolds or swear off purchasing Leupold in protest to make a blip on their radar.
Plus this is good for the retailers in Canada that buy from Korth, gives them added incentive to stock the product from the Canadian Dist. There are a few fellows that sell Leupold on the EE that won't have Canadian warranty.FS
