I'd say it depends on what your gun likes, what you want it for and what your expectations are. Most of the cheap stuff is ok to make your gun go bang, but that is it. You will hardly ever get spectacular accuracy from it; but on the other hand, you might not need it, either.
My 10/22 with factory barrel likes Winchester Power Points, which is what I mostly shot with it, but Lapua trainer would shoot groups half the size of the PP, so I shot it at paper. But now that it has a Kidd heavy barrel, it just loves Lapua SK's and Eley ammo. It definitely hates Win 333, as do all of my other 22 LR's.
I have an old Winchester M77 Semi that likes CCI Velocitors and shoots ok with Winchester X-Pert, but definitely hates stuff like CCI Stingers. My Norinco M93 likes the Federal bulk pack stuff and my Husqvarna 22 loves the Lapua SK, Eley and RWS Club. And so it goes...
So, you'll have to test to find out what your rifle likes and how much you want to spend on ammo. The good stuff can be a little pricey.
