$129.95 Norinco 780 Homeland Security 12ga 14" Barrel

Thanks for this good informartion , Ardent. I think with all the Members here, with a lot of knowledge, helpfull hints , idea,s etc; we can work the bugs out of this guy. Lets keep the communications going , on any idea,s , remedies etc; that will overcome a lot of these issue,s that are coming up. I have one of these on the way as well, So ---- Hopefully, none, or not too many issues !! ----- [ I can Hope can,t I ]

I'd still recommend throwing the gun in a deep body of water and buying a real gun ;) (I've heard of Rem's with this problem, but the difference being if you take it back in they'll get you one without a rough chamber). But if you're going to polish the chamber, move the dowel in and out to create a cross-hatched pattern, like you would for honing cylinders on an engine. Exact same process.

---- Have a Mosin Nagate, a Hungarian M44, one of several, that had a rough chamber, plus crud buildup, ( and it nearly ended up in a deep body of water ) ;) but a light polishing with emery cloth, then CLP, really cured the stuck bolt problem , and No more carring a piece of 2 x 4 around . A differant animal I know , but same idea . ------- Anyway

When I went to remove the rails, I found I had to pull a small leaf spring away from the right rail, then it came out, with a good pull.

This was the first time i ever had a shot gun taken apart.

Thats how its work on the 870,some times it can be a pain even ona wingmaster.
so could like yours work just fine.

So in my totally inexperience with shot guns here is a question. While inspecting for a cause of my jamming i noticed this. Now i am a technical guy and i can't see a reason that this would be like this...except for bad ones...take a look at the pics. This is what i would describe as a slide rail guide on the left side. Notice how twisted the piece im showing is. I tried to scribe an arrow where it is much closer than the other end. Also looks to me like a crack or fatigue in the bend as well. Does this look right to anyone else,or does yours look like this and im a total newb who should stick to mechanics? lol
Keep in mind the gun is upside down...

Took me an 870 schematic, and flipping the picture to make heads and tails out of that... The twisted bit of metal, is that what the bolt/bolt carrier rides on in the receiver?

Also, I know these don't exactly match up with an 870, but I do wonder how far off they are, because that left shell latch (thing with the arrow scribed on it) sure looks like an 870 part...

That is what the slide rail is guided on. The bolt and carrier attach to the slide rail. also my fault for not flipping the pics. They are upside down or course.

I found out why mine won't eject empty shells, it seems the bolt rides waaaay to lose through the receiver(like wobbly from side to side) so as soon as you fire one and then go to cycle the action the extractor just let's go of the lip on the spent shell without even pulling it out of the chamber, not really sure that this problem can be fixed as it seems like the bolt is to small inside the receiver like there is just a 1/32" too much room for it to move.
You get what you pay for I suppose, I'll just stick with my rolling thunder ;)

Got mine (woo!), Initial impressions... looks like it costs... about $130... lol... happy so far :D

....that twisted bit of metal is part of the groove that guides the action bars... I can't find anything else it does (the bolt runs on the folded bit of sheet metal  pinned to the LHS of the receiver)

If that is the only place your gun is catching, I would take a file to it...

On another note, one of mine seems to be cycling just fine (not shot them yet) the other is catching on something when the action is opened fully.... we'll see what I can do... :D (Update: It's the shell lifter getting caught on the cheapy follower... but I've got a couple of S&J hardware followers that should hopefully stop that... :D ..if not, I will be filing off some of the shell lifter... )

Anyone have issues during reassembly? To disassemble and take the bolt out it took a good shake. Now it doesn't want to go back together. I've tried to pursuade it with a rubber mallet, but I don't want to push it too hard as I might be missing a little trick or something.

Mine got here today as well. A little rough around the edges so to speak, could use a bit of TLC to make things work smooth as butter but it also cycles fine and seems to be ready to blow stuff up with

Today must have been the day. Mine's in pieces all over the coffee table, smelling like Chinese ass, covered in burrs and signs of manufacturing indifference. Gad, but that shipping oil is nasty stuff.

It matters not to me. I'm looking forward to slicking this ugly little monster up and getting it reliable, if I can.

Question - how is the stock different from an 870 compatible piece? I don't have the Real Thing here to compare it to. Is a bodge possible? I'd like to restock her with wood...

So, yeah, I'm a spaz... that bit of sheet metal is the ejector (of course...) realized that last night while at work....

And yes, that cosmoline is god awful, I can still smell it in my fingernails from yesterday (and yes I do wash my hands!)

Putting it all back together was a bit of a pain for me too, but with some wiggling I got it to go... (no hammer needed here) ...you did push in the shell stops while sliding the bolt in, right?

I am still hoping that somebody with an 870 buys one of these, I'm really interested in seeing some of the 870 parts side by side with these guns... in particular the barrel... up to now, the shortest shotgun I've held had a 28" barrel, and I gotta say, I love the 14" barrel!

--- The barrel is definitly differant, quarter of a inch , longer or shorter, I forget which .

Gee wiz, there's a project!

Tried mine today. After a couple of shots, the extractor started not working well. I'll have to see if I can find a stronger spring, or, could the exact shape of the extractor be the culprit? Any tip would be appreciated.

Also, the rounds from the mag are not coming out as they should. (i.e. they are stuck in the mag). They are held in there by a curved leaf spring, I'll try to see what adjustment that would require to work.

That's it for now, other than that it did shoot, which is more than I expected!

:)
