Time to Delete! Thanks

they said something about standard fal mags working as well with some modification.... Anyone know what this "some modification" entails?

Not sure if this is a duplicate post but P&D has a pre-order for the RFB. I believe $2499 with a $200 deposit.

Problem is they have to be mags "designed for a pistol commonly available in Canada" to be eligible for a 10 round capacity. The FAL design is prohibited by name, so there's absolutely zero chance for those pistols to make their way up here. No FAL pistol means no FAL pistol mags.:(

At $2000 I would be all over this. At $2500 not so much. The dollar is at par. I would assume some more cost in bringing these rifles in but $1000 more.

add $500 in cost for a barrell .5" longer than the regular one they sell. a .308 win chamber instead of 7.62x51 and rifle re labeled to .308

2000-2500 is not out of line and if there were no profit to be had we would likely not even see these up here

$500 for a barrel? I doubt that very much.
Different chamber would be part of the barrel.
Different label, also only on the barrel. Maybe the receiver too.

i can see 2500 for this batch simply because the chambers had to be re-reamed (or more likely just replaced and the current barrels cut down/threaded for us ones) and the markings redone after the guns were already finished

what id like to see, is the price drop to 2000 for the next batch since they can now do the changes before the guns are finished so that should save them significant time/money compared to this batch

is it going to happen? doubtful

$2499 CDN MSRP minus $1880 US MSRP is only $619, works out to about 33% more which is about the same as every product out there besides firearms.

Vault said since day one the CDN MSRP will be $2499, before all the States Dept. problems came up, got to give credit to Kel-Tec for doing all this for the Canadian market.

Arms East lists the plr-22 a dollar under Kel-tec's MSRP...

sold out btw

Ok arms east doesn't include magazine, so let's add $35 to the price.
$424
The price is 8% more than MSRP of $390
$1880 + 8% = ~$2030, $2049 at 9%

Can't comment on how AEI set their prices, but if they can manage to get RFB's into Canada at the US MSRP, I am pretty sure they will get everyone's money.

I have spoken with P&D, and the price is not set in stone at $2499 - it is "$2499, or more if they end up charging us more".

I also spoke with Vault Distribution, and the message I got from them was that they were shooting for $2499, but it is now going to be a little higher, but probably within a hundred bucks or so.

So don't stop saving your pennies yet!

Its sad when Canadians feel good about being charged double and more, I guess its true what they say about fools and money :)

You better get your pre-orders in, we wouldnt want dealers to have to put out their own money to double their money, it would be unfair :) :)

These rifles sell for $1499 on gunbroker. The seller is a probably still making a profit. It is a mystery to me why kel-tec just didn't fit a 18.5 inch barrel as standard.
As for the costs of making this rifle "Canadian" I would be surprised if it works out to a difference of $100 per unit. I would think the import cost per unit would not be more then $100 per unit. Speculation for sure but not completely unreasonable and with all manufacturing the more units the lower the per unit cost. I would have to say that $2200 would have to be the absolute maximum $price given the parity in the dollar. If the dollar was to weaken then the price should go up.

I have to interject here, as I find it very hard to listen to all this petty talk about doubling the price and price gouging. I'm guessing some of you on here don't understand how many months we've worked to bring this line to Canada. The cost of several business trips to the U.S., hours invested in promotion and marketing plans for the Canadian market, plus a major financial commitment to Kel-Tec to make the Canadian market even worth looking at for them. I started talks with Kel-Tec in October of 2009, closing a deal in early February of this year. I spent the first few months dealing with the CFR trying to get these firearms approved with FRT numbers so they were legal for sale in Canada. Then their was the five months of hell dealing with the United States Department Of State, of which you all have heard about our nightmare their trying to get the RFB and Sub2000 approved for export. Oh.. not including the SU16A2-C that we're still working on.

You all have to understand these Canadian version Kel-Tec's were, un boxed and sent to the manufacturing line twice after they were ready to ship. The first time for the milling off the 7.62mm from each RFB, and laser etching the .308 Win and re boxed. That wasn't good enough for DOS so a week in a half later they were un boxed, and sent back to the floor to have them all re chambered officially in .308 Win. Kel-Tec is a very busy company, and each time they had to make these changes to the RFB's they had to pull the manpower, and adjust their manufacturing schedules to fit these in and bump other customers. Do you think that all this manufacturing time is free? Please tell me that their is somebody on here that works in a manufacturing plant and can explain this to people. We have also offered to Kel-Tec to pay for the moulds charges for the Canadian version RFB, so in future they don't have to mill off the 7.62mm and laser etch the RFB-C and .308 Win. These moulds are fairly expensive and another cost incurred to make the Canadian version. Am I supposed to eat this? I can't even tell you the time and money I have invested in this deal without a penny of return yet.

I'm a very fare guy and run Vault Distribution Inc. the same way gentleman. We are trying to bring change to this countries firearm industry by providing the utmost level of service to all of you, and our dealers across Canada. Vault Distribution Inc. is hoping to bring some other interesting product lines to you in the very near future as well.

All dealers selling the Kel-Tec line will be under contract with a MAP price program we have in place. So standardized pricing across the board. As far as the RFB retail price, we are doing our best to keep it at $2499.

I am working on the shipping details as I type with Kel-Tec. I hoping these will ship Friday or the beginning of next weeks at the latest. I will confirm this all to you when I know.

Thank you all again for your patience and support.

Sincerely
Steve
