Second problem, my shotgun gave better groups. No wonder people spend so much money trying to make these things shoot!
I've always wondered what people mean when they say that

descriptive postings?
Sorry But I try to base my Opinions On FACT ,Not hearsay , If I have not first hand owned one or had one in my hands for a few days I will not slag it . How can someone accuartly post a reveiw on a firearm if they know nothing about it .
Reading a reveiw of a firearm may help you make a desision whether or not you want to buy the firearm ,but it very well may not perform to YOUR expectations . The only way to Know if you will be happy with it is if you have one in your hands for a few days .
Well it would seem to me that people ask questions from people who own them so that they can be informed about others experiences. Tips tricks, advice, etc. Ergo the necessity and purpose behind forums like CGN and rimfirecentral .com.
Perhaps first hand knowledge IS best since all guns are individuals. Mine was not a typical 597 to my understanding.
BUT,I'm not going to go out and by all semi auto 22 models so I can compare them with each other nor do I know someone who has 1 of each model. At some point you need. To factor in outsider advice to formulate your own conclusions.
For instance my buddy had a car.
Was it a nice looking car? Ya.
Did it get good milage? Ya.
Did it visit the shop more than the street? Ya...
Is this a common problem? Yes!
Would I buy one and take my chances? Probably not.
Or how about this?, My buddy loaded a 3 1/2 12ga slug into his full choke 3"chamberd pump action and blew half his face off. Gonna try it to see if its true?
Same applies here.
There is a difference between opinion and facts and it depends to what ends you are going to use the information obtained. Perhaps the OP don't actually give 2 bitts about this. Maybe he is obtaining a sadistic pleasure from watching the amusing circus of 597 vs 10/22.
For the record I have never owned or fired a Rem 700 but would have serious reservations about owning one.
I concur the the Marlins may well be the best out of the box inexpensive semi .22s. They generally seem to have a good reputation for accuracy and reliability, cost less than a 597 or 10/22, and the bolt locks back on the last shot. The only thing they don't have going for them is the availability of larger capacity magazines than 10 rounds.
As I stated in my previous post "Reading a reveiw of a firearm may help you make a desision whether or not you want to buy the firearm
I base my opinions on fact , and yes I do go out and buy guns to try them and no I dont go buy vehicals because my buddy has one ,I would test drive them first .
The post you made with the description (#30) tells me that you bought a gun that had some rust in it from a store that claimed to have had a flood, a peined breach from people dry fireing it in the store, and a burr on the crown ( could have been from the factory , could have being droped in the store who knows )
most of the other issues seen to be somewhat the norm with the low priced 22's ,gritty triggers , flimsy stocks, poor extraction....etc..... why do you think there are so many aftermarket part's out there .....to better the substanderd products that all the companys are now sending us.
All is that I am saying It gets old real fast to hear my buddys uncle's cusens freind had that rifle and he said it was crap and now everyone is an expert on the issue's .

There was No intent to disrespect anyone in my post , My original post (#18)was befor you even came along , you were the one that came in swinging #33.My point. I simply don accept being disrespected. My intent was to express not argue.
No just handled one at a gun store. Its a 597 for the Tacticool market. I don't know what its called by Remington but the rem web site should have it. Maybe IM_Lugger will post some?
NOTE just came back from Remington.com. It is a; 597 VTR A-Tacs
No I seem to remember a reveiw of the tactical 22s on the market a couple years ago. Reminton,Rugger and.....Winchester? Each had one and of them all the winchester? Was basically an identical copy of an AR scaled down.
