Sask Hunter Shot

The Indians hunt next to us and they chase. There is a lot of them so when they go through an area most young deer are taken. They have hunted like this for generations even centuries.
Unless they are using a straight bow, no recurves, no compounds, they certainly have not hunted like this for generations or centuries. How successful do you think you would be shooting at a running deer with a bow?

A bunch of years back, I hunted in the Coderre area. Pretty much gave up on it for the number of idiots pushing bush with their vehicles.

The deer were pretty attuned to the situation. They pretty much wouldn't get up and move unless thay were just about stepped on.

Nothing as WTF as watching some ####### chasing a deer across a quarter with a camper-van, with a 'hunter' standing on the running board of the drivers side, while they do 40-50 kmh after the deer.

I quit hunting there. Too much opportunity for really bad stuff to happen.

Loved it when the snow started to pile up and drift. It kept the idiots from getting too far from the roads. Usually, a couple hills back from the road, there were lots of deer. Bit of a bag drive dragging, but I had deer, and the truck hunters didn't.

Crappy deal for the guy shot. I figure the shooter should be charged. Beyond stupid.

I hope the fellow makes a full recovery, fricken citiot moron. This prick who did the shooting is the definition of a Citiot

7 pages of #####ing about hunting styles. For shame.

I don't do the tree stand thing at the moment but I will. I don't own a bow, but I will.
I drive around sometimes. I stalk hunt sometimes. Today a bunch of us pushed bush.

You freakin "ethical", elitist pricks should get over yourselves. All this bickering makes us look bad and weak as a sport. :HR:

It sounds like a lifetime firearms prohibition is in order,as the shooter has proven that he can't be trusted with firearms.

If it was me that was wounded,I would have my lawyer serving papers, and the shooter would be sued for as much as I could get to punish him as much as possible, because our spineless authorities likely won't do anything to punish him.

Absolutely! I'm glad there are lots of road hunters in my area, it keeps the deer skittish and off the roads. Since rifle season started, I haven't seen deer near the grid roads or road kill on the highway.

not much. Was referring to the chasing part, not the tools of the trade. They would chase them into rivers where they would spear them or in the case of buffalo, over cliffs or into enclosures. Today the chasing part has not changed, only the means of killing.

True enough. I would suspect using a bow and pushing bush would also work as long as you knew the escape route the deer usually traveled.

Thats how we do it here..

We were camp hunting this weekend, sitting around the campfire when a jacka@s comes in with just park lights on then turns his headlights on and is driving looking for eyes. It's funny how fast he leaves when couple bear bangers and some flashing headlights from our truck come his way. You can still smell the trail he left.

Can I get an "AMEN!"

I've never seen the point of flushing deer as if they were pheasents, then wantonly hucking bullets at them. Now before anyone decides to get uppity about that, I've seen it happen time and time again. The potential for disaster is high.

Any style of hunting can result in disaster. Pushing is extremely popular in Ontario.

Hunt with smart people, and you dont need to worry.

If you were to hut with a bunch of idiots I could see it,but who would to choose to hunt with a dunce?

Ive always hunted from a tree stand in Ont, and always pushed bush out west.

With so many square miles to cover, its the only way to do it out there.

We had some fog last week on two days of our hunt, and decided to shut it down for visibility/ safety reasons.

When pushing bush, there are always safety concerns.
Point men are always looking for orange coming their way, and pushers are reminded to watch point men.

When practiced enough, the line of people pushing stays relatively streight, and shots may be taken by pushers well in front of, or behind the line of travel, while constantly watching for point men that they are approaching.

The angle must be 45 degrees or more for a safe shot in the line.

No one fires unless theres a half mile of dirt between any deer and orange.
