Mossberg Tactical .22

really hope they are AR mag looking cuz if not ur gonna have this tiny little thing sticking outta the mag well from it will look like ass.

Funny you should ask. I just got a phone call telling me that I will get a couple of testers in a couple of weeks. My contact thinks they will be on the market by mid-December but says don't hold him to that. The ones he saw were pre-production and if you can believe it he can't even remember if they are skinny or AR mag looking, geez:confused: Mine are going to be from the first production tests and I am to give them my feelings on them ASAP. I will of course post pics as soon as they show up:D

keep us posted

lol, Mid-december if that eh? i think i'll be busy with my AR-15 xmas present to myself by then LOL.

I have used both the 333 and 555 boxes with my mossy tact 22 and they work great. So far no jams and have put about 600 rounds thru it.

I love shooting the 333 and 555 packs from Winchester. It's the least expensive ammo a person can buy (around here anyway) at $19.97 a box. (for the 555)

It shoots great in all my .22s (except the .22 conversion kit for my Glock) and is actually very accurate too. Just recently I put 10 rounds into 3/4 of an inch at 50 yards with my peep sighted 10/22.

And to keep this post on topic, I really like the look of the Mossberg Tactical and would probably buy one if I didn't already have a "tacti-cool" 10/22.

My only gripe with it is that any optics mounted on it will sit so high. I think it would have been a much better idea to put a removable carry handle on it instead of a carry handle mounted rail.

Well I got to handle one of these at the local Gun shop. Man does it ever feel like a plastic toy from the dollar store! I've held airsoft guns that were better built and more realistic! :p

Now that I've held the SR22 and this Mossy, I can't possibly buy the mossy. Even though its hundreds less, the solid feel of the Ruger just can't be beat. This Mossy gives me "that feeling" that the first time I accidentally lean on it or something, it will snap off in 2 pieces. It actually feels THAT light and flimsy. I know it is gonna be decently reliable etc, but man, I can't get past it. Oh well, It sure does look like a neat gun. The carry handle is the other thing that I can't get past. What use is the big rail if that dumb lookin handle is there.

I bought one and had a chance to fire it. It never jammed and I used bulk winchester ammo. Fun to fire, never had a scope, but I had to raise the rear site up to its limit to get into the bulls eye. With it at that point you had to remove the plastic rail assembly for a scope. So with mine you cannot use the sites and a scope. No biggy and the fit and feel is pretty cheap but I expected that for the price, I have the adjustable stock and it was fun trying to shoot it playing with the stock setting and gave you that m16 feel. It's was a little pain to remove the magazine after the last shot as the action stays open and rests against the mag, you need both hands to do it.

Just pull the bolt handle back and push it in this will hold the bolt open the mag will fall out way easier.

You could also very easily file the front sight down a bit which would let you lower the rear. It is just plastic;)

For the folks who have one of the mossy's, I'm curious about how it hold zero? Since the sights are attached to the plastic shell and that has to be totally removed when you clean it has anyone shot it cleaned it then shot it again? Do the screws tighten near enough every time that it hold zero? This is a big factor for me, i dont mind the cheap feel for the price but if i have to re sight everytime thats a big negative for me and would put it out of the running.

Why do you have to take it completely apart to clean it each time you use it? Mine got completely disassembled to get the shipping grease off it when it was new and now I just use a bore snake to clean it after each use. I may have to do it again in the future to clean out the bolt/receiver but it shows no sign of needing that now and that is after over 1000 rds through it.

I suppose you don't but it was an issue i had read about in review and was curious about it. I feel that you SHOULD be able to completely disassemble each time to fully clean IF you feel so inclined and one shouldn't have to worry about having to re sight in each time if they do. If the not holding zero thing is actually an issue it would be a con for me thats why I asked.

That being said, does anyone have an actual answer to my question? Since the sights are part of the plastic shell that comes apart, if you sight in and then completely disassemble the rifle, once put back together does it hold zero (even more or less) or do you have to re sight in again?

On every gun I own if you take it out of the stock it needs resighting even if you can retorque it to the same specs each time but I have never tested this gun for that.

I just (and I mean JUST) ordered one from SFRC. Can't wait till it gets here (and the weather warms up some :D).

For $270 bucks, you can't go wrong for a Tacticool .22 - especially since I already HAVE a 702 Plinkster and know all about its quirks!!!! :D

Come next spring - LOOK OUT GOPHERS!!!:50cal:
