A few words from Alex Robinson.

I can't read that letter without getting mad. Can't even finish the whole thing. I feel insulted and be-littled and I don't even own a rob arms.

I do want a XCR, it ain't in the budget for a while.

We'll Mr. Industry Expert, you need a little correction. Robinson Armament won the SPR-V program. The Robinson SPR-V smoked the SR-47 gun in the competition. The competition took place at Blackwater. The contract was IDIQ (indefinite quantity, indefinite delivery) and it's true that no additional rifles were purchased. Every single operator that shot the SPR-V in the trials wanted it.

The rifles were designed, tested, and made in 60 days. It was an almost impossible task. The RA SPR-V was not perfect by any means. There were a few small flaws that could have been easily corrected. However, the brains at Crane never liked the rifle to begin with. The soldiers who shot it all wanted it and kept asking their command where the rifles were. It was a real shame because the SPR-V by RA would have been a superior system.

Most don't know this but the RA SPR-V was really the rifle that got the SCAR idea going. I as involved in the whole thing and was at Crane when Robinson was named the winner. So get your facts straight.

Lol oh peanut, how will you go on! I think an apology is in order for you.

This guy is a moron, what president or owner releases statements like that to the public? First of all, use the spell check douche... Editing your press releases is usually a good idea. Poor spelling and grammar usually negates any merit your points of view may have had. dumbass!

This is a waste... Instead of releasing something positive like development updates or future endeavors, he's spewing defensive "my ford is better then your dodge" type BS, and getting sucked into an argument that cannot be won...

It's immature, it's un-professional and it's a huge mistake business wise. Big companies hire PR people to handle #### like this. Almost all the time those releases are well written, articulate and educational.

This was bush league at best. Take a hint you moron and go back to the shop. It's because of him theres so much bad publicity surrounding his company.

ha: uh oh! grammar police! every1 cheq yer spaling und gremar! this guy is kickin' ass and takin' names

Good thing you didn't write that letter ;)

I've met Alex and he's actually an really nice guy. I like his guns but don't think that they are very good, just average but good for a small company.

I agree with a lot of the posts but think the poor guy is just very frustrated. He and everyone wants to compare him to the big companies. Alex is just not that good as much as he and his well meaning supports want him to be.

Two things:
1. One he deserves credit for what he has accomplished as a small outfit.
2. He actually cares about the Canadian Market.

you can tell that he's not a happy camper and im sure he had to deal with a lot of douches. Sound like an okay guy but needs some vacations.

I live my xcr. I don't know if it's the best rifle in it's class but it sure is great. When I was looking into getting a rifle innhis category it was either xcr or Swiss arms. Well I live the ergo's of the xcr, I really love the lar15 10rnd mags and they are what sold me on it. The AR was never even a thought for a minute even though they can be found for a fraction of the price. My xcr is the go to gun. Where I used to bring out 3,4,5 rifles to screw around or bring camping for some plinking, I now usualy bring just the one. It's not that I disslike the AR but I hate ranges and I'd HATE being confined to them. This rifle has been so damn good to me. Just yesterday in -20's we dumped almost 200 rounds through 6- lar mags as fast as we could shoot and load, just a few minutes. Couldn't touch the barrel and not a single issue. Gas setting #1.

With all the trash talking I've seen regarding the xcr, much seems to come from dyed in the wool AR shooters that resent anything that threatens to equal the AR, or from Swiss owners that are holier than thou, then he ones that just re-post second and 34th hand information or should I say missinformation. If I were Alex, I'd also be telling people off. Who knows, mabey the receptionist is sensative and he's tired of seeing A-holes make her cry. Best rifle it's class... I can't comment, super awesome non-restricted.... You bet. Personally a restricted AR, or a 5rnd Swiss would be nothing but a paper weight to me. I like having fun, not punchng paper or carrying baskets of mags around.

I've never met Alex nor fired one of his guns, but as someone who's worked in PR for 10 years, reading this thread has been an eye-opener!

My initial reaction was to cringe. He starts off polite, like he's taking deliberately aimed shots. He ups the ante about a third of the way in with a series of double-taps. But then he flips the switch and goes full auto. It's almost a textbook case of how not to deal with a key public.

I'm not surprised that so many people are annoyed and pissed off with him. But I'm equally surprised -- and pleased -- that so many others appreciate his honesty and candour. He's in a bit of tight spot right now and I can understand his frustration.

And I hate to say it, but my advice would've been to take the high road. Keep it polite, civil and professional. You can do this and still inject some backbone, but it probably would've sounded too polished and "canned" and -- and not at all representative of the passion he really feels.

So I give him full props for going full-auto and laying it all out there for everyone to see. He loses points for sloppy grammar, sentence structure and spelling, but on the whole I can appreciate why he did what he did. The XCR is his baby, and if he's not going to stand up for it, who will?

I suspect his employees will appreciate his vocal defence of their product -- especially the folks handling customer calls -- and his leadership ratings will likely jump on the next employee satisfaction survey. But I also suspect he's either considered a god or a tyrant by his employees.

Would I work with him on a professional basis? Sure! He sounds like an interesting character and a welcome change from the plain vanilla BA-MBA-and-no-life-experience types filling corner offices in just about every other large company in North America. Working with them is bor-ing. . . .

Don't particularly care about laddie, his approach to business, his thoughts about his costomers, whatever.
Gave one of his rifles a serious trial with a first class scope, at least five different makes of ammunition, carefully shooting from sandbags.
If I wanted a nonrestricted 4 minute of angle plinker, my money would be better spent on a Mini -14 or SKS.

Blunt, Honest, and to the point. I love the letter. No grey areas to be misinterpreted. We tend to 'dumb down' or 'Sugar Coat things' too much these days. That letter is a breath of fresh air.

Makes me want an XCR even more now.

I guess its more his approach that could use some refinement. Everyone who gives him props for being "blunt & honest" should think about what brought this on. The fact that he has to single out "rude" customers means that, for some reason or another A LOT of RA customers end up getting frustrated, resulting in rude behavior.

Let's be honest, no one calls up a company & acts like an a$$ right away - generally what happens is that you try communicating politely & after 4 or 5 or 6 failed attempts (being ignored, being made to feel like you should consider yourself lucky that they let you buy their product) the customer finally decides enough is enough & lets the person on the other end have it.

I'm not saying this is acceptable, but if the service was good in the first place, it would all be avoided. And traditionally, RA service has not been good in the first place - prompting complaints. And to have the owner come online every once in awhile & rant isn't really helping.

If solid changes have been made at RA on this level, then I'm sure things will be great - they have nice products. But if the CEO attititude is already negative towards the customers, then it may still be a long haul. Its easy to say you're good with his approach until you call up & get the 6 month runaround.

Time will tell.

The end is...

This is a boss standing up for his employees.

Nice for a change, instead of all lumping them together and throwing them under "customer is always right" (BS) bus. It drives me f**king BONKERS as an employee of a large corporation where I'm always in the wrong, and I can do no right. It would be nice to have a boss who didn't feel the need to save his hide by belittling me all the time.

If you don't like that a boss takes care of his employees, perhaps an attitude or reality check is needed for yourself? Just saying...

Actually, from working the other side of the desk, people do act like an ass right away. There are a lot of folks out there with are large sense of self entitlement and believe they are always first no matter their problem despite ALL THE PEOPLE AHEAD OF THEM. As for what brought this on, they are a small company with limited staff and personal to deal with the demands of a new product. So it's understandable on the slow response time. And face it, there are a lot of people who don't read the manual or are mechanically and cognitively inept. These people will blame the tool rather than themselves because of their pride. Besides personal experience, Alex states this in the letter when he talks about gas adjustments. But because of their pride, they believe they are never wrong.

They cannot stop us. Their petty feeble minds are easily exposed. The XCR will gain momentum until it covers the whole earth. There is no other platform like it and it is the best.

What are we going to do tonight, Brain?

The same thing we do every night, Pinky, try to take over the world!!!

I didn't really mind the letter that much--I prefer that to some skeezy car salesman-type trying to blow sunshine up my ass.

I e-mailed Rob Arms around February inquiring about some parts for my XCR. Didn't hear anything back, and it wasn't a great deal, so I kind of put it on a back burner. Suddenly about 3 days ago I got an e-mail back apologizing, saying that if I am still interested, they would do everything they can to help.

To me that seems like the positive change in sales/marketing that Alex is referring to.

Not as amusing as the SL8 going for $7000.

DoHhunter, for you, special deal. G36 for 6800$, you pay the shipping.
