That stock is absolutely beautiful. Did you do anything to it?

Yes.... cleaned all the cosmoline off... light sanded the age off... light/almost clear stain... and 2 light coats of matte poly....

Now I will get scolded for doing so... however it looks way better... and it is still unissued and unfired.

Me first. Don will only sportsterize it and carve his initials in the stock free hand with a router!

and ruin a piece of my heritage/history? not a chance. I want a German made kar98k so badly. i cant seem to find one anywhere. Its always Argentina this, or Swedish that.

I that case I'll keep the #### going....and dangle some Mediterranean twin blondes (formerly from the 3rd Reich) in front of you:p

i just checked the EE, and i found a guy selling his german mauser! what are the odds! i sent him a pm. Hopefully it all works out to my advantage. now i want to apologize ahead of time for my ignorance. I am new to the world of firearms, and as such, some of the terminology confuses me. The Mauser im interested in buying has the following description. I am confused about the parts in bold:

Metalwork is very clean no rust, pitting just light wear. The Bolt is numbered to the action, trigger guard, band etc are miss matched. Most of the German military markings are present (small eagle on the receiver and barrel) Rifling is good and strong, dark in the lands.

The stock is laminate very clean just little dark from handling and storage. No damage or repairs small marks and scratches nothing major
.

Is the gun shootable? Or do i have to take it to a smith to get it checked out first?

Sounds just like your normal milsurp rifle that has seen service. If it is priced right and what I am looking for, I would go for it.
