Best and cheap never go together in rifles. You get what you pay for. Basically, get a Rem 700 and hope for the best and prepare for a new custom barrel for real accuracy if the factory one don't shoot.
Hey my mistake, I thought this was the Precision Rifles section. EE still rules for the best deals.

I don't reload, just shoot AE 55gr so ammo won't be an issue, I hate rebates but is a VTR better than an SPS and if so why?
Get the SPS Tactical
about to add the Tikka to cart...somebody stop me....
Thats the smartest idea you have had so far..I got one here..
Another stupid question... 700 SPS tactical or Stevens 200 with better glass? One is 650 other is 350...Crap, just found a Tikka T3 lite in 223 for $630..now what lol???
Personally, I'd still go for the Remington, especially if you want precision and a platform to build on, the 700 action is what most competition actions are designed around, not to mention the many gun smiths that can do wonders on improving the factory action. Hard to beat a trued 700,and finding upgrade parts is easy, ask around.
