which 22?

Get a 10/22 you can get high capacity mags for it. 50 round mags are alot of fun. I made the mistake and bought a Marlin 795ss. Its a great gun but i didnt realize those high capacity mags would only fit on a 10/22. I would get a 10/22 now if i had my time back.

Does that mean you loaded up aftermarket parts or just set the irons in?
I am guessing you have at least a new barrel on it.

As well, 1 inch groups at what distance? With what scope? What ammo? I have seen a couple of newer Rugers do 1 inch at 50 meters...not bad really but other 22s are much better than that.

I almost bought one (10/22) and did a lot of research here, looking at old threads going back years. The consensus seemed to be "great once you switch out this and this, reliable and minute of gopher is good enough for me". Well, not for me, thanks.
I ended up getting an older marllin 60 and it never had a FTF for probably 1000 rounds, until I got a bunch at once after shooting at minus 30, this was probably a 20 year old rifle, and it had never been cleaned, the buffer was shattered. Changed the buffer, cleaned her up, and never had a ftf again until I sold it, stupidly. Same with my papoose, maybe under 10 ftf's in about 1500 rounds, mostly from putting a full 10 rounds in the 10 round mag.
Both these guns gave me 1 inch groups all day at 50 yards with the federal bulk packs.
The papoose did have a slightly heavy trigger, though.

I feel I must add, that buffer was a real PITA to change out, certainly one major bonus with the 10/22.

Well, here's what I chose. I know, I know, Nutnfanceeeee, comin' atchya, but he speaks the truth, the Papoose is a good rifle.

Hey guys i just bought a savage model 64. got an awesome deal on it and i used my buddys it felt pretty good, i havnt had a chance to shoot mine yet but im hoping il be pleased!

I have a 597 yellow jacket (heavy barrel no iron sights). With its 10 shot mags it's 100% reliable with all .22lr ammo fed (standard, high velocity or hyper-velocity) and very accurate, better than a Ruger with its own factory barrel.
