Levers - When did we switch to carbines & why?

What great pictures...thanks for sharing them! :)

The old fellas at our camp seemed to do alright with those lever rifles...

Great photos guys!

But the truth is that the laws were changed that unless you wore suspenders in hunting camp, you were not man enough for a full size rifle and had to use the "boys size" carbine.

Those who could not find the appropriate suspenders to wear had to carry the short barrels. UNLESS however, you smoked a pipe in camp, then you could chose suspenders OR a longer rifle. Hope this clears up any confusion that might have been there previously. :bangHead:

Looking at old hunting pictures makes me nostalgic for the older simpler times. Maybe someday our kids will look at today's hunting pictures and feel the same.

Now I have to find a pair of suspenders and the pipe....

PS: not a thread of GoreTex on those hunters. How did they shoot anything wearing those clothes?

Well Johnn,
Not only do you take great pictures of firearms, this photo also doesn't need any fixing.
!!WOW!!
Every thing about that photo is perfect.
How old do you figure that buck is?
The one with the horns.......
Thanks for sharing another great photo......

:)Thanks guy. I've had the pleasure of two Mule Deer draw hunts in Alberta with my Daughter and Son In Law. The one in the picture is my 1st AB Mule Deer. As to how old it was, I don't really know. It has a little 'trash' on the horns but isn't anything special size wise. However, when you're used to the size of Deer on 'the Island', ;)anything with that much bone looks like a monster trophy:p.

My Daughter did the European mount for me. A great job for her first.
