Short, Lightweight Bolt Action Suggestions?

Although you said you were looking for a bolt, I wouldn't pass over the Ruger No.1 series. They arent super lightweight either, but you can have a long barrel ( 26" ) and still a short OAL due to the compressed action size. They are also classy as F*ck and come in a large variety of chamberings, likely more than you will find on any other compact iron sighted bolt gun. It would be smart to look as well at the Ruger Compacts ( though you would have to add sights, they are realllly short and light ) or the ruger compact magnums.
Either way you will likely have to buy the gun you like and add some decent sights to it.
Hope that helps.

I would also go Ruger Compact, and add sights. Epps will both sell you the rifle, and install the sights that best suit you.

I had a Tikka T3 Battue, and the sights suck....Horrible!

why the need for open sights?...get a Kimber Montana....you can add sights if it's a real issue.

I seriously entertained that very thought and unfortunately I would have to say that's a negative. I own a couple 84Ms and a full size Montana, and the design of that stock would not be iron-sight friendly.

Thanks to all who posted a reply (and stayed on topic). Not many new rifles with open sights anymore. I guess the best method is to pick one based on other qualities and then add open sights.

You will find that things are hard to say with your foot in your mouth also.
55 posts= rookie mistake. Give you the benifit of doubt
57 posts= douche bag, lost cause

I sure don't know where your animosity is coming from. I have not spoken to you before, and I have no idea why you are so crazy. Whatever. I am out of this conversation.

Does the Ruger international have a full wood stock? :)

Yes it does. Not fond of the 18.5" barrel. 20" is my limit. :)
