RFB initial thoughts, Range report ***JANUARY 31st ammo test at bottom of OP***

Not much point for the flash hider. The gasses used in the gas system are vented out front over top of the barrel through the gas adjust knob so there are 2 flashes. But I do love the look of rifles with suppressors and a compensator on the front would make the RFB feel like a .223.

I still want to see one with a FN flashhider. Ya ya it will add another four inches or so but would look bad ass. Ad if its threaded, just take it off when you need the extra breathing room.

I was at Poco just after lunch time. I was the 3rd to attend with one that day.

Poco Range Rant

And what a surprise 1 hour wait at the upper range so I went and used the lower pistol range on my own for 1 hour.

I had a great time shooting .45 out of the wife's Norinco 1911 and my USC. At the 50 minute mark I was reloading the USC mag when this bigger Russian sounding guy came up and told me that I was not aloud to fire the USC rifle down here, lower pistol range. I politely corrected him that .22 rifle and pistol calibre carbine was aloud and the upper range officers knew what I was firing.

Instead of walking away and saying something like "ok, didn't know" he kept arguing/interrupting me when I turned my back to him and began reloading the mag:mad:. He didn't actually touch me. At this point I was pissed. So this time, looking him the eyes I politely told him that I no longer cared what he had to say as he wasn't listening to what I had to say, you are disturbing me so go f**k off, he responded by shrugging and making a funny face.:bangHead:. It takes quite a bit to piss me off just, ask Epoxy7. Once I resumed firing the .45s in a long string of multiple mag's the big Russian, without hearing protection on, left me alone .

1 hour is up so I clean up my range, pack my kit and move the truck over to the upper range. I go and speak with the upper range officer about a table for .308. He smiles at me and askes if i was firing a rifle down below. I said "no" just the .45 USC. he responded with "oh, thats fine then". Apparently the big Russian felt so inclined to report me to the range officers when he didn't get the response he was looking for.

I'm glad I've joined the Mission range.

Rant off :p

LOL. Way to ##### out for no reason. I looked it up; you were in the clear with pistol caliber carbines. But you let someone else get to you; and now you gotta drive an extra half hour (since it says your in vancouver) just to shoot; way to goXD

Not quite #####ed out  someone was harassing me :p. I live in Coquitlam and the drive to Mission to meet Lineofsight, Epoxy7 and my cousin is shorter than the wait for a table at Poco's main range + the mission range has a flat 300 meter main range with a club house that serves food !! I joined Mission 2 months ago.

But thanks for your input.

Got my Rfb from p&d today, love it! Field stripping was different the first time, but not difficult. The trigger is actually pretty good! I got 5 extra mags but none of those will seat because they're riveted on the spine. I will try grinding them down a bit. Here she is with a 7.62 specter DR.

A 7.62 DR? Ah man, I'm in the wrong line of work!!! Good to see you finally got the RFB...now shoot the crap out of it!!! Nice optic...but I'm partial to the Trijicon stuff...I almost went for the DR for my AR but when I looked through the glass I didn't like it as much (FOV seemed screwed up to my old eyes)...hence I might move up to the TA01B Trij for mine...the Aimpoint is ok for now

I love this thing. It's solid and more compact than my tavor, and will be good for deer moose, bear and elk. I can't wait to hunt with it!

Happy new years guys!

nope...gas setting is easy...but you need to readjust each time for different ammo...that's my initial problem...I brought a couple of different types and they did cycle differently...

There is a minor update to the procedure for setting up the proper gas settings from the printed manual. Instead of starting at B+10, it is recommended to start at B+5 and open or close 1 click from there.
