So IPSC Ont is concerned with loosing Members to IDPA

I hear you guys. My philisophizing on this subject still does not stop me from going out and competing. I still go out and shoot and try to be the best shooter I can be with what I'm given.

I do look cool in Multicam!

Just wondering if there are as many pre-madonnas in IDPA as in IPSC. That was certainly a turn off for me.

"Oh, I'm a master class shooter. My s**t doesn't stink. I get to waste everyones time going through my pre-stage readiness rituals. And I don't patch either. And don't talk to me, pion. Off with you."

Not saying all masters are like this but.......hopefully it's not like this down here in Florida.

Well.........at least you are not bitter about it, LOL!

I've met just as many a,b,c and d class shooters that didn't patch, and thought they were the only ones that deserved time to do a walkthrough...

It has nothing to do with what ever letter is beside their name...

Well ... If there are any prima donna's 'round here I think it's just a case of a big fish on a small pond... Y'might be top dog in your village, but travel a bit and you might have your ass handed to you by a 12 year old.

These types of shooters are only punishing themselves... Kicking the dirt and cursin' when they make a mistake... Stewing over a bad run.. While everyone else laughs at 'em.

I get a kick out of it when a guy stands there staring at a target with only one hole in it... Flabbergasted they search for a reason.
"You missed" says the RO
The look of disbelief...
"You missed, #### happens"
(shooter walks back up range shaking his head and wondering out loud about that impossible miss... Is it a problem with my sight, my ammo, my new extractor...? Continues to talk about it for the rest of the match to whoever will listen)

sheesh! you guys are contagious, now i'm wondering if i should get BB'd and shoot some local IPSC, so you get someone back from IDPA........

seriously, where would you get a BB course around stratford/london/kitchener?

It's not an IPSC/IDPA thing. I know of people that have walked into sporting goods/gun stores and the attitude they picked up from some o the employees/friends of employees was pretty condescending; some guys think that just because they have a safe full of guns and throw lead downrange regularly that they're King Sh*t of Poohland.

Don't go thinking that IPSC holds the monopoly on assh*les. You find these kinds of people everywhere. There may only be 1 of them for every 5 genuinely nice people, but these are the ones that stick out in your mind.

Meh.

From a beginners IPSC perspective, the serious IPSC guys take the sport way too seriously and always want to compete, whereas the IDPA guys seem more content to just enjoy the sport for what it is and not be as competitive. From my perspective IDPA seems way more friendly towards newbies in the sport.

Just my .02 though, I may be wrong.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I've not seen this at the IPSC club night at Phoenix in Edmonton at all. The master class shooters are the guys that go out of their way to help, RO, build the stages, tape, pick up brass, give advice and answer questions. They'll even talk about the best ways to shoot a stage and why. They give advice on re-loading, and offer to help you set up your firearm with different parts and show you how. They'll let people come to just watch what we do and will let them try their personal firearms on targets to show them what different classes and firearms are like.

I've never been involved in a sport where everyone tries to make newcomers feel so welcome and it is an awesome friendly atmosphere.

Of course it could just be we are blessed with great guys here in Edmonton...but I have a feeling that most clubs are like this.

I bet Ken K is one of them. One of the most helpful shooters I know, and first class shooter.

Cheers from Ontario

That would work, i've actually met him a couple of times but I doubt he knows who I am. Maybe i could work that in with a trip to meet fogducker with a couple of motors for brass tumblers...........

I still wonder how we can make it easier for people to visit IPSC Ontario web site and just look at the list of planned BB courses. It is not like some sacred knowledge or invitation only, all info is right there.

I would like to see one day a match with say 3 IDPA stages and 3 IPSC stages. Any IPSC or IDPA shooter can enter competition. It should be lots of fun and will help to understand each other.

Every year the SFFGC runs a Community Challenge event where we challenge local police forces and clubs to raise money and compete in a multi-gun multi discipline match. All funds go to the Military Family Fund.

We usually have IPSC, IDPA , PPC, Shotgun and Rifle stages.

well, i suppose i could have done a web search found the site and looked it up, or i could just ask here, where the folk who are going to be doing the course are present. And it's more fun. Thats still ok?

I just have fun going to matches help out when possible and its all good no such thing as a bad day at a IPSC match:D:D:D

ps,

:jerkit: this just for my buddy pok pok lol

Don't tell my Boss, he's not aware.....s**t, here he comes!

(stealth reading at work)

Sadly I won't be able too anymore...I just moved into the Boss's office to share with him for a company reorg.

On the plus side I'll get more work done, which should be better for the career in the long run.
