So IPSC Ont is concerned with loosing Members to IDPA

Sadly I won't be able too anymore...I just moved into the Boss's office to share with him for a company reorg.

On the plus side I'll get more work done, which should be better for the career in the long run.

I'm hoping they offer me a package, I need a change.

That being said, I try not to make a habit of it, but my knees been giving me hell lately, so i'll take a few minutes off the floor now and then and hide at my desk. Gunnutz is my mental asprin.

Don't forget the headlamp to complete the ensemble.

Ok look, I only had to do that once!

And that was because my car keys fell into Pat's gaping... well, you get the picture!

So there I am in a pair of yellow rubber boots with a green stripe around the top, a neon green Speedo, a Tilley hat and a headlamp while Pat's wife is holding me by the ankles over Pat's gaping... well you get the picture! It gives new meaning to spelunking!

Good thing was that we found my keys but I dropped one of my cz mags in there... Pat, did you find it? :D

the more the better, bring it on

If that were true I would have BANNED YOU for the fact that you disagree with me.

So your car is not agile with 3 guns and gear in it? What do you drive a YUGO?

My car once held 5 guys with all the gear for a 3 gun match and had not problems.......

Here is what YOU wrote.

Now to me that sounds like you are complaining that is too much for YOU to carry. The only competition I am aware of in which you have to carry all your gear including guns in the Ironman competition and that is the ONLY one.

So once again...........we are back to you displaying a lack of knowledge or needing a new car not to mention learning how to write posts with less chance for missinterpretation between you and your car.

If I could shoot matches where you have to lug all guns at same time, bring it on...
Peter's idea of a non-sanctioned fun match of 3 ipsc and 3 idpa stages and storms of adding one multi-gun stage ROCKS !!!

at one of Popurheadoff's zombie matches... :)

obviously, not a sanctioned event, but with big boy rules and safety in mind.... :)

Wonderful. Another mental image I will take with me to my grave. Screaming....

I shoot both.
IPSC is all about points, picking your mag changes and a ton of rules. Ie-form.
IDPA is about real life scenarios and using your head, to safely improvise. Ie-function.

LOL! IDPA has a much to do with reality as Big Bird on Sesame Street! I like them both as well, but they are both sports/games!

I always wondered why IDPA headquarters had this on their site...

"The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is the governing body of a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real life encounters."

All the courses of fire I have been setting up are simulations of real scenerios and I follow advice from Practical Tactical and Tactical Impact! You shot everything up now! Some "cover" is only concealment while other cover is really cover. I don't know what I know anymore. :stirthepot2:

I am about as new to IDPA as you can be and here is what I can say: Before joining IDPA I had never won a single gun fight, since joining IDPA I have never lost one. That is 100% true.

I would just like to add to this discussion that since getting into shooting several years ago I have never encountered a more welcoming bunch than the people involved in the action shooting sports that I have met just in the past couple of months. I chose IDPA over IPSC for a few reasons, but I could easily see myself getting into IPSC too one day. I think the people in the action shooting sports represent their sports very well and I wish their way of welcoming and mentoring new comers spread more into some of the other parts of the shooting world. I would never have been able to get started in IDPA without the help of Steve David, and shooting with Cbabes and that crew at the Marksmen is the highlight of my week (or every other week). If people take anything from this thread I hope it is to give any shooting sport a try because you will meet a great bunch of people and have a great time while improving your skills 10 fold.

Heck, man stop swelling thier heads. cbabes doesn't need it, he's already big enough.

As for Steve, we won't got there.:D

They are a great crew of guys, not saying the IPSC crowd I know isn't, but no matter what discpline you shoot there are like minded people and there are all the rest.

My 0.02 cents canadian.

Dear Mr. newshot,

IPDA would like to apologize in advance for any trauma that you may suffer from your interactions with cbabes.

We are fully aware that he may be befriending you in order to ply you with his monkey-like wiles!

Please do not be fooled by his seemingly helpful manner, he will eventually attempt to squish you into a very small car that smells surprisingly like some form of cheese and take you on road-trips to exotic locales like Kingston! Whatever he suggests: Do not let him put his hand on your knee!

Sincerely,

The IDPA Community

(Just kidding, he's a cool cat!):p

I have to agree with you, when I started in IPSC in 1982 it was very much like IDPA is today and much closer to the intent of the founders of the sport. Many matches required concealed carry, targets were to be shot in order of threat, scenarios were the norm and everyone shot 'open', there were no divisions, you shot a 1911 Colt .45acp for major or Browning high power 9mm for minor, no electronic sights. The rules were MUCH simpler and the targets more realistic. There was more FUN!

IMHO IPSC today is a PALE shadow of its former self, having evolved into a sport that rewards athletics over shooting skills, meaningless targets, with the miriad of rules, divisions and lawyers that go along with it.

IDPA is more fun for me today because I can be competitive with my 1911 Colt .45 and pancake holster, and NRA Action Pistol (Bianchi Cup style, think an entire match of standard exercises), but I still shoot some IPSC (open, of course).

Oh well, nothing stays the same in life, nothing stands still.

Cheers!

Are you saying that IPSC is to Complex.....:bangHead:

I don't see how a cardboard target can be/not be more real.....are you saying you shot at Real Targets?

I instruct.....lo....demand that you have fun when you shoot matches at our club......if you don't have fun...you are banished....or sent off a cliff....or....WORSE!!!!!!!!!!

IDPA has cardboard targets just like IPSC or ODPL or........the rules of the game change, but it is still cardboard!
