Thats the thing, ive never test driven the P210, but everyone speaks so highly of them. I really like the CZ style pistols, and I know the P210 is the father of that design. Still, after shooting a P7 Im amazed at how accurate that pistol is. Plus, I think the design is something very special.

That's a great offer and I thank you but today is a childminding day. I looked at the Tradex used Sigs and see that they are a pre P210 model called the P49 and they are all made in the 1949-1950 era. I assume that's still within the group recognised as a superior product. all are priced around $2200 and have plastic or bakelite? grips.
I have shot the P210 in both the wooden and plastic grip, with a wide rear sight notch and without. It is an amazing pistol, without question. It may even be worth the amazing price, but there's no way I could ever afford one.
I bought a CZ Shadow instead. A poor man's P210? Just maybe. It's a joy to shoot, I know that. I've put a lighter mainspring in and saw a great improvement in the pull weight, and will be doing a couple more things to lighten it even more.

So the Tradex guns are not P210's? Now I'm really confused.
One of the better informed P210 collectors will know more than me but my understanding is that they are essentially the same pistol but have different model designations according to year manufactured and country who they were made for. The "A" prefix pistols (the Tradex guns all have the A prefix) are model P49 and made from 1949-1985 but the P210 is also included in some of those years as well. They are all thought to be the same great quality.

Yes they are, pure and original P210. Pistola 49 (P49) is military designation for Swiss SIG P210. Serial number is prefixed with letter A which marks it as army pistol. Prefix P means private/civilian version. All privatized army pistols get stamped with P somewhere on trigger guard.

I didn’t have a chance to compare them side by side. But...lets think logically.
Germany produced “Legend” does not go under same rigorous firing tests. Swiss army accuracy requirements less than 5cm at 50m do not apply any more. CNC machining takes a little bit out of P210 genuine character, quality and feel. Cast parts are also not welcome on such highly priced piece. I personally prefer to see even a smallest part machined out of solid peace of steel. But that is just me. American mag release will just introduce a rattle into the historic icon such P210, it won't feel monolith solid any more.
Did Swiss army accuracy requirements apply to all civilian pistols too?
There is a huge difference in 'CNC' methods. Properly set up, with good machines and unworn tools and CNC easily trumps the capabilities of a human when it comes to machining. Poorly setup, with crappy machinery or worn tooling and the opposite is true. Machined right, the whole idea of 'fitting' becomes a whole lot less important.
I have a couple sigs in the safe that aren't 210's and all have 'American' (though far from an American idea) mag releases so I just went and checked: loaded with a mag they dont rattle one bit. A couple of my 1911's do, but i digress.
I don't know about 'character', except that I've driven in a rickety horse cart that had lots of it. I guess I'll have to wait till next year to see. I think I'll trade some 'genuine character' for a proper mag release, a beavertail and a chance to own a brand spankin new 210.
If it sucks I'll buy ya a case of beer.
