The Most Accurate Rimfire under 600 Bucks?

Out of the box -

Every stock CZ i have shot has had a poor trigger. It needs trigger work to shoot as consistantly as the savage does out of the box.

Savage accutrigger beats CZ stock trigger no contest.

True ,but a trigger kit is around $20 and takes all of 5 mins to install and then you have a trigger much nicer than a Accutrigger.

For the OP, it looks like 3 make the list, Savage with accutrigger, CZ wiht a yodave trigger kit, or many other trigger kits, same kit, different name, or if you want Semi Thompson Center R55 (very few guys here have shot them, especially the CZ crowd...talk to guys that have you will get great reviews) hope your question was answered.

It was answered, thanks Dizzy and everyone else. I would like to get an R-55 Benchmark but I need to do some trading to make up for the cash I lack and they are hard to find in my neck of the woods (I had one retailer tell me they have been discontinued). So it will be a CZ 455 Super Match or a Savage Mark II TR. When I secure the gun I'll try and do a range test and post.

Ya I put the same kit in as well and I'd have to say that the trigger on my CZ is my favourite of all my guns by far. Just have to be careful when letting others shoot it and make sure I remind them 3 or 4 times that the trigger pull is nice and light.

And I've done three triggers with one kit, $7 each and still parts left over!

No argument from me. BUT - the thread originator did state "out of the box", i think. Not every one feels comfortable messing with triggers.

I didn't even change springs in my CZ, just finished the job that the factory should have done - smoothed out the burrs and trued sear engagement so that it doesn't have a 1/4" of creep. I hate creep in a trigger.

Savage is probably the best value out of the box....
Excuse my ignorance, but what manufacurer is "S K", and who supplies it?

SK used to be an independent company in East Germany prior to being purchased by Lapua. All Lapua .22 rimfire ammo is now made in the former SK factory. Lapua has sold some of it south of the border in an SK box, and also in a Wolf box for some time. Recently Lapua decided to stop putting their Lapua name on their lower quality ammo. So now it is sold in Canada with the SK name on the box. Ammo probably has not changed from the Lapua Club and Super Club name it used to be sold under.

Hirsch Precision sells it.

Thanks for the info.
I'll get Peter to throw some in with my next brass order.
Sorry for the hijack!

This one's pretty easy. Handle a CZ and savage, and buy what you like. You'll pay less for the Savage, allowing you to spend more on your optics (I spent $525 on my CZ, $750 on the Sightron on top).

They'll both shoot great. If you want them to shoot better, spend more on ammo. Everyone out there is looking for Olympic performance from $h!t ammo. The reality is that rimfire accuracy always comes down to ammo quality and a good match to the bore.

Spend $8-$11 on a box of quality (read Eley, Lapua, SK, RWS) rimfire ammo and you'll feel like a God. And it'll still cost peanuts compared to building a high power and spending a fortune/time on reloading for accuracy.

I purchased a target/varmint digital camo Browning T-bolt in 22lr from DelSelins for well under $600. I don't know if it is the most accurate rimfire under $600 or not but I have no problems shooting groups that rival/equal those of my friends Savages and CZ's.

I say if you want value, buy a Savage. If you want quality above all get a CZ 452 Varmint.

I have a Savage Mark II BV that will do 1.25" groups @ 100 with crap Winchester Super X ammo and a Trashco 6-24x scope. If I could find some nice Elley sub sonic I think I could get it down to about 3/4" with a little patience.

Brno target #4. Quite a few of these came around a while back for 3-400 bucks and guys at my range were doing 1 large ragged hole at 100 yards on a really calm day with good ammo. IMHO most people shooting crap groups with decent rifles do so because of poor ammo choice or their adherance to high velocity 22LR.
