When you say an original 45-70 I hope you mean a Trapdoor Springfield and I have one of those too.

My "original" is a 45-70 Guide Gun made in '98... the first year they were made by Marlin - ported and drilled and tapped for a side mounted peep sight and the pride of my rifles to date. Trapdoor Springfield... Hmmm, might have to look at one of those. Or one of those single shot buffalo guns.
