ahhhh now gentlemen i own, and have shot mainy ak's! i also have shot the real ak's when i was in the army, and was deployed to afghanistan, and let me assure you they are very sweet rifles!

the ak's i own are an arsenal inc rpk with milled reciever( running the action is allmost like ### because its the smoothest action ive ever felt in an ak)

2 mak-90's that i debanned after the ### ass 94 crime bill finaly sunset! but i still had to use section .922r parts in them to remain legal!

1 norinco nhm-91 that i gave the rpk treatment to, and is a bad ass rifle

1 norinco 84s sidefolder that i bought long before the ban, so its al original, but mags are both exspensive, and dmaned near impossible to find! (hate proprietairy mags)

2 sar-1's one in regular comblock configuration, one i refinished the stock set green( is pictured in the red rifles forum on a link) and installed night sights!

1 sar-3 that i have redone with a magnolia state armory ar-15 mag adapter, and a brugger&thommett rail system(this fricking thing is awsome but cost more than the damned rifle!) aimpoint ml2, 4x magnifier, surefire tactical light with ir filters, sure fire green lazer, and mako vertical foregrip and a el-cheapo nightowl optics 2nd gen night scope yeah its one of my fun guns lol!!!

1 century arms bulgarian ak-74 thats just stock, with 9 30 round mags, plum colored furniture, sling, and bayonet (fun, accurate, cheaper to shoot right now than 47, a bit more range, and accuracy than 47, but not as hard hitting)

i saiga that i am currently doing a conversion on to put it back into military specs! just so i can say i actualy have a russian ak lol!!!!

now having fired alot fo ak's semi auto ones here in the states sometimes have whats reffered to as trigger slap! trigger slap is when you fire the rifle, and the trigger resets, and when it does sometimes it can have a painfull slaping feel to your trigger finger! this is caused by crappy machined triger group castings, that are not machined to the exact tolerances, and dimmensions of the original comblock parts! but with a little bit of hand fitting of the parts, can be made smoothe again!

some of the ak rifles i have use slant muzzle breaks, witch are used to keep the rifle more level and controlable under rapid fire(in theory at least) this slant is supposed to direct gasses exiting the muzzle up and to the right, and by doing so push the rifle down and to the left (once again that is the theory)

they are very light, very tough, and mine at least are quite accurate, and they require very little in the means of care, all the poor little things want is ammo, love, and something to blow to peices lol!!!!

i also have a few ak rifle kits that i put away along long time ago, and have a few reciever flats with rails, that some day when i have the time, i will assemble into working rifles!!!! there are 4 of them, and they are all from romanian G type rifles, and have pristine bores, and all matching numbers! i got these back when the kits where $65.00 at centerfire systems!!! wish i had bought more i could sell them now for about $400 each lol!!!!
will post pics soon of my ak's just so you can all drool, and ohhh and ahh!!!!

but if you guys want your own, its not to hard, just come on down here to america, get your citizenship, and enjoy bettter rights lol!!!!

and your all welcome here, because we sure could use more gun owners to help us vote, and most canadians speak english, and actualy have better job skills than the current flood of mexican trash thats flowing into my country!!!

Who said uncontrollable ? It's hard to be accurate in full auto, and I doubt you were, never having shot it before. Big or small makes no difference if you don't know what to expect from a weapon. It's not a pie eating contest .Practice makes perfect.

Yes, I was wrong, I meant to imply hard to control accuracy.
Yes, thanks, I know its not a pie eating contest. lol But I was expecting it to be savage, so I prepared for much worse then it was. And in bursts at 25 yards, I was as accurate as I would expect in FA. Lets be honest, in FA putting them all on paper would probably be considered accurate enough.

Somehow telling myself that you pay more for your SKS is just not cutting it after this.
:(

I shot my 1st AK back in 1989, was owned by a meathead (MP). And I've handled many more on different tours (Peacekeeping/Operational).
Meh...........................................

Years ago a family friend took a bunch of us to the range, let us shoot off a bunch of his firearms. One of the fiirearms was a Norinco semi auto AK set up like an RPK, long barrel and bipod. Nice rifle. Sweet to shoot from the bipod, don't think any of us tried to shoot it offhand. Another was an HK 91. That was pretty nice too.

I'd own one in a heartbeat if they were legal here. I'd probably own a whole bunch of different varients.

The AK

Here is an excerpt from my review of the Tactical Response-High Risk Civilian Contractor course where I used a full auto AK for the entire time.

The Ak-47:
This amazing rifle is designed to be operated when your fine motor skills disappear in battle. The safety is a large paddle that can be slapped up or down with the palm while leaving your brain to worry about more important things. I was making solid hits on steel at 250 meters with a high HR and sweat in my eyes.

My 2 cents

i too have shot one in vegas but i im suspecting they use a lighter load. it felt it had less of a kick in full auto than my semi SKS. the tommy gun actually packs more of a punch comparing to the AK.

My $0.02 on the AK...

It's a simple tool... It always works no matter what.

As far as accuracy goes... Accuracy out of an AK depends, IMHO, on the quality of the build.

For example... If you happen to have some AK that was slapped together right quick. It works... but if you want to hit something too much past 300... It's probably not going to be easy (at least in my experience).

If you get an Arsenal or build yourself and go a very nice job (take your time... SERIOUSLY)... Your AK is probably going to be able to hit targets at 500-600 yards.

Optics/Lights/Lasers... Pain in the ass to mount... I dont like any of the forearm mounts available... I do like the side optic mount available for the AK's... Arsenal machines a really nice system and it will allow you to put an optic on your AK (It takes some work to get installed).

Is it just a "Farm Tool" ---Sure. It's a farm tool that I know every time I pick it up that its going to work. Maybe today I'm hunting on the farm to bring home dinner. Maybe I've got a Prairie Dog Problem... Maybe I have some thugs trying to firebomb my house... Whatever I've got going on that day on the Farm... It's going to get the job done. Mud, Dirt, Sand, Rocks, etc... The AK doesn't give a s***. Can you say that about your AR-15's (I cant).

Why do I own one? Honestly, It makes me laugh to think that me owning an AK, just pisses off every liberal a little more. It makes me laugh to think that I've just built one more gun that gun grabbers do not want me to have.

I wish it were as simple as that, because the girlfriend and I would be moving to Maui tomorrow. It ain't.

if you want to get the full advantage of american gun laws then hawaii isnt a place to move to.

Owned lots of Valmets, they're good, but a .223 M78's got nothing on a regular Mini-14 in accuracy, function, or reliability. That is to say both work, are neither inaccurate nor accurate, and are just pretty vanilla. Had a Yugo underfolder as well while living elsewhere, milled receiver. Good gun from a strength and reliability standpoint, awful ergonomics and heavy though. All in all, we're not missing much, just a gun.

I have handle, shot, inspected and repaired. I got to say they have there problems, Parts do break down and come loose alot. Also I have seen alot of hard extractions "from dirty chambers" aswell as having to hand fit 80% of the Yugo mags that came in

I am starting to like the AR more and more ;)

Really? What have you seen break? or Come loose?

Rivets for example should not be coming loose... If you have a screw build.. I could see that... But thats not a real AK.

9 that all you have? geeeezzzzzzz hard to drool over a such a small amount of AK's :p

I beat ya

well howdy gun plumber its nice to see you here!!!!!
why arent you over at the akfiles anymore?????

oh yeah i know why lol!!!!! just behave yourself over here, im sure they have their own version of englishmike, so you just remember to be a good boy now lol!!!!

but seeing you here, sure makes me hope that folks like 762fmj, ismurphy, or a few other folks dont come over here!!!!

is it just me or are you also having a hard time believing what he just said aswell????? and having to hand fit yugo mags to an ak???? what the hell????

ive only in my entire life seen only a dozen or so ak rifles fail!!!! one was someones hatchet job parts kit gun, that wouldnt even cycle, because the rails where installed in such a way that the carrier was binding up, another one was on a video, that had some asshat hadji shooting one and it blew up in his hands! and the others failed because they where blown the hell up, buy various mortar/artillery/airstrikes that we called in on them lol!!!!
