I wonder if many Canadians are interested to get classified in national and international IPSC classification (ICS)?

Anyone that wants to do ICS stages is more than welcome to set them up!

It doesn't cost the match directors anything to submit the scores!

Craig, I take that you don't want them, and that is why I don't see ICS stages at ESSA matches? Other than ones you guys runs on Tuesdays where no one can register for.

I believe ICS submission cost like $3 or $6 per competitor. Personally I don't mind match fee increase if ICS stages are submitted, but that's just me.

I would like to see more of the ICS Stages, what I was getting at, is that anyone can run them, I mean you need an RO, but anyone can put them together and do them. As in you could organize something at your club and do them, it shouldn't have to be up to Match Directors or clubs to get members classified.

In fact, my first introduction to them was Peter organizing them and approaching EESA as a venue for them a few years ago, we did some for 3 months in a row, it was good fun!

They do cost money, but my point was that it doesn't cost the Match director anything, as the competitor would pay for it through their Match Fee.

We do close our matches to Lvl 1 matches to the general public, the reason being that we would never get a chance to shoot at our matches, you could always join EESA!

Simple. Do you want to be classified?

Simple..Yes :)

Sounds like you have the same problem in Ontario as we have in B.C. No ICS stages being offered. I have asked why not and I was told 'no one likes them cause they are boring'.

As a consequence we all shot Nationals as Unclassified.

I am thinking of putting on a small match of ICS stages in the spring just so we can try out the system.

Might be the only way to make it happen.

In that case I will argue that they should not be IPSC Ontario matches (calendar, results, etc). But that is a separate story.

As for required ics % I believe it is the only way to get Provincial classification running.. But that is also a separate story.

Well, maybe we should look at opening it up to non club members. We will charge Club members $5 fee, Non Club Members will be $5 Match fee and a $50 Building fund entrance fee!

I think IPSC Members that want to get classified Provincially, or with the ICS, they could take some responsibility themselves, and either put on a Classification match for their own club members, or, if they so choose, include them in their matches!

Actually our matches are in fact open to any and all.............That said not many people seem to make the trek out for a Tuesday night so it appears to be all EESA ers from the surface.

We also host regular ICS nights................the next series being held in March.

We have held EESA's ICS night in Canada matches for 4 years now I think................

But as 7.62 pointed out it did take someone (me) to stand up and decide to host it or it would never happen.

That seems to be where you are stuck Euxx

We had a pretty good run of ICS stages leading up to the Barrie Nationals. That was after it was anounced that the ICS stages would be used for Class awards at the Nationals going forward.

There are quite a few people in Canada with an ICS Class, but the infromation is getting a bit stale.

That being said...I'm willing to bet that at least half of our members don't understand what ICS is, or what an Alias is...and why they may need or want one.

For the records...it $3 USD to submit ICS stages (I think that's for up to 3 stages...but I can't remember)

$1 goes to IPSC, $1 goes to the WinMss Developer as an admin fee, $1. goes to the host region...
